Restored to Open, Zig-Zag and Vertige are back on line !!!
Sud, South Summit Sector Trail Array.
scroll----->>>> for complete images. This is a no-thumbnail zone. Above: From Left to Right, we would like to introduce our friends....
Grand Prix, Zig-Zag, Vertige, Dunzee, McCulloch, Kandahar
and a wee bit of Taschereau.
If you look lower screen left, diagonally upward to the right, just beside
the left side of the Summit Lodge Grand Manitou, this pic. above shows
the complete length of the TGV High Speed detachable Quad Chair Lift.
You can also see the Ariel Gondola running upward from lower centre
screen over the South faces to run to the immediate left of Grand Manitou
between McCulloch and Kandahar.
Next, Below... We are using an Archive file pic. from January 23rd here
to show a close up of Zig-Zag and Vertige, the two runs on the centre and
right side of the screen. The left side run is Grand Prix.
The reason we're using this file pic is because it shows the Snowmaking
from early season that this entire sector has the benefit of today.
Before Snowmaking was permanently plumbed in on these runs, i.e. years
ago, they were closed more than open some seasons, so now having had the
advantage of early season snowmaking, even after the extreme wind event
of earlier this week that took them off-line for 3 days, they are very restorable
and ready to go again... a huge benefit for all those Double Black Diamond
Tremblant Fans!
We are pleased to report this morning that there is still Snow in the Summit
Trees. This is a very good sign of the continued existence of Pure Winter
Surface Conditions on portions of at least the upper levels of Tremblant.
Here is an expanded, Zoomed in Web Cam Snap Shot @ 8:15 A.M
this morning that we would offer as "Proof Of Winter Surfaces".
It ain't fancy, but we love the story it tells us about what we can
expect at Tremblant, Top-Side, before we head off to the Mountain
for the day.... Regular readers, bear with us... New readers....
Snow in the trees indicates stable 24 hour Sub-Zero temps. The Snow in the
trees is completely uninsulated and as such is subjected to any thermal energy
from all directions and is very quickly melted off by any 360 degree warmth.
The fact that it is still there shows that has not happened at this level.
Todays Weather... Ton's 'o Sun with a daytime high forecasted at +4 C for the
South Base level, so with any luck at all, the Summit and North sectors will
remain Sub-Zero for the day.
Thank Goodness... The wind is forecast to be light because at these temps,
wind, we call it the "Blow Dryer Effect", could be more harmful than ambient temperature.
Want proof?? try this...
1) Take two ice cubes and set them on separate surfaces.
2) Start a timing mark now.
3) Let one just sit there.
4) Use a blow dryer with no heat so it's just pushing ambient room air
temperature over the other ice cube.
5) note the extra time the un-blown cube exists after the blown cube has
disappeared.
No, or very little wind, is why surfaces at Tremblant are sometimes
completely unaffected by sun or just barely plus value temps.
Page still under construction....

Trail and Grooming Status Report, Courtesy of Tremblant.ca We received "Likes" on our Facebook Post yesterday and we replied
with the following because it's true, and a very good reason
to be planning a near-as-can-be, Tremblant Visit....
The Sweet combination of compete coverage and warmer temps
can't last forever, so we're encouraging a "Sooner than Later"
attendance strategy!
...if possible.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
(

First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
