Welcome back to Winter!

Nice and "Crisp" at a Summit temp that got as low as somewhere
around -15 C for a while, but was a wee bit warmer most of the day.

Kicker wind though, and that's what got through to you if those
all important seals and overlaps on exterior shells were not
properly attended to.

The principle differences in the Ski/Board Snow Surface Quality
from yesterday are:

- There's fresh snow almost everywhere. Some minor drifting
created deeper zones, but the new snow definitely did contribute
to a good performance level grip capability on the majority of Groomed
terrain.

- Due to the solidly lower, well into Sub-Zero temps overnight
there was a noticeable firming of the base, not so much into ice,
although there were some icy bits, but rather it just took away
the soft cushion effect that the warmth had generated in the past
few days.

This is not pic. about the People in this image...
It's about the Snow... Falling, and on the surface...

Skis/Board with good edges still could hang on to an aggressively carved turn,
there was more than adequate depth for that, but you could tell that the
layers below were no longer soft.

Fine with us. Speed and Glide factors were excellent because of it.
There were places where linked multi-air turns were easy. The firm,
almost wave-like topography of Natures dips and crests in many of
Tremblant's Classic late 1930's-1940's rhythmic fall line descents
could be used as ramps for shallow launches that were very easy to
control and can be used for reduce turning effort at safe speeds.

Early Tremblant Skiers were never afraid of air to help facilitate turns.
Mother Natures way of assisting you with the "unweighting" part
of commonly accepted Ski Learning Theory, where indicated for
User Skill Level, and appropriately matched terrain selection.

Lots of people out today, but no real delays in lift lines all day.

The singles line at the Gondola was never more than 7 minutes or so
at the peak and for the most part between 3 and 5 min's.

Less on all North Side lifts.

A good recovery from the previous "Warm", and a nice firm winter day...

Below:
Between Mountain User Traffic and another day of Grooming, the
rather large size chunkiness of Duncan's upper pitch was quite a bit
finer today. This daily, incremental improvement in Surface condition
is exactly what we expected, and should continue on in a similar pattern
for the near future.

A Moving Chair lift, Handheld Telephoto, and flat grey light with
misty foggy snow... Sorry for the burned contrast and highlights,
but what we were looking for is the illustration of both Shred Depth
underfoot that allows carving, as well as the surface particle size.

Following ANY Warm to Cold Weather cycle, conditions improve
gradually, every single day. Mountain User Traffic and Grooming
Crews combine to render finer and finer surface particle size and
additional consistency in uniform "Shred Depth" on all open, Groomed
terrain.

It Snowed a bunch....
Off and on, most of the day and then fairly steadily
through the middle part of the night. There are places
adjacent to the South Resort Base where we see drifted
contours of between 2 and 6 CM's.

It is a light, dry granular with a mixed crystal size added in, so to us,
this indicates that atmospheric conditions were changing as it fell.

In our opinion, it will definitely contribute to the overall quality
of the top layers today, especially where they were groomed last night.

Speaking of "Groomed Last Night"....

We had a totally unique and thrilling "Last Run" experience.

Firstly ..... Thank you Tremblant !!!

We were going through the singles line on the Gondola at around 2:25
P.M. when one of the Crew we know told us... "We just got the call and
we're keeping the Mountain Open today 'till 4:30."

Excellent news!

So, it's 4:15 or so and we decided to take a fast high frequency slalom
carving run down P'tit Bonheur because there was no one on it ... at all...
and it was certainly one of the smoothest surfaces, as usual, on the
Mountain.

So, we get over to the top of the run and we're stopped by the Ski Patrol.

"This Run Is Closed For 5 Minutes, There's a Groomer coming up right now."

Dilema: it takes about 5 minutes to Ski Slalom Style, non-stop from the top
of P'tit Bonheur to the Duncan Quad base... the Groomer will not pass by for
another 5 minutes, it's 4:17 now and the lift will close at exactly 4:30...
We really had our hearts set on this run, we knew it would be excellent
even before there was anything said about "Groomed" .... Do we risk
getting stuck on the North for one of the best single runs of the season ???

You Bet!!! At 4:24 by the Patroller's time piece, we headed out on a absolutely
perfect strip of Corduroy for the entire length of P'tit Bonheur's right side descent
from top to bottom without a single mark or glitch on seconds old groomed
nirvana making about 150, 11 metre radius tight slalom turns from top to bottom
in a seamless line of perfect arch's that will live on in memory only, because with
only 1 minute to spare, there was no time to risk missing the Duncan back up,
so no time for even a quick pic. All we can tell you is that we made it,
it was damn near a perfect run, and we got on the Duncan Quad at 4:29.

In the mean-time while we waited nervously for the Groomer to pass by at
the top of P'tit Bonheur, we had the camera out for these pic's, so we can
at least prove we were there, even if we have tears in our eyes that we
can't show you the perfect tracks we left on the new Corduroy.

Above: look at the extreme left side of this pic and you can see the spinning
tiller drum attachment behind the machine. It's hundreds of Carbide Hardened
Steel Teeth are whirling at very high RPM, making a perfect top layer of fine
gorgeous Corduroy that is being spread from side to side by the grooved sweeps
behind it that you can see in the pic. below.

For Us... Easily the best "Last Run" for us of the Season, maybe even a few
seasons... What a thrill to make it by a minute too!

Back to reality....

There were a lot of complaints we heard in passing about "Icy"...

There definitely is an icy component in the mix. You just can't avoid it
when you go from Plus 8 and wet conditions, down to Minus anything,
overnight. Wet is gunna' freeze.... but.... it's not all icy because it was
slightly snowing too and all that plus the grooming actually rendered a
good, edge-able top layer for the most part.

We Hammered on people yesterday for Tuned Gear and Damn it,
we're right.

Without tuned gear you will find it Icy....

With tuned gear, you'll sense icy, you'll find some
small patches...

....but none of it will throw you or take anything away from
your very fine day.

Bottom line on Tuned Equipment.. again....
Do not bring your Ferrari to the track with flat tires.

Yesterday, Toboggan, on Versant Soleil, had everything in it's mix.
there was great Snow, there was icy, there were bumps, there was
super soft, there were big bumps, there was fast, there was slow...
all in one run.

It's not usually like that, but with this weather, anything can happen
and ya gotta' be ready for it.

We really like the Sun Snow Shower going on in the distance of this one
above too. The scenery was a tremendous mix of everything yesterday.

No need to wonder why there were highly variable weather factors
yesterday when you see this....

Hand held 300mm Telephoto from 5 kilometres away.

Today starts out with -8C, so expect a mix of conditions especially with the
wind we've got which is quite gusty.

For those that are properly prepared, there will be excellent conditions
within all skill levels. Pay attention to Trail Postings. Go with care on
initial explorations.

Watch out for unpredictable beginners and/or traffic in confined
areas near run-outs and intersections.

Pg. Under all day, Whacky, Wild, Wonderful "Spring" Weather
Construction and Conditions Updates. Maybe late but Apres Ski too.

If you're not here, but you could be ... you're crazy...
If you're here without tuned gear... you're crazy....
If you're here with tuned gear and you're not having fun... you're really crazy!
