T360 Apres Ski Intro., Early Edit. @ 7:50 P.M.
We are happy to report Lousy Photography Due To Excessive Snow....
The detail is poor, the sharpness is poor, the contrast is dull....
...but, It Is Snowing Quite Heavily Over There On The Summit....
The problem with "Too Much Snow" was even worse on the North...
Photography was a real challenge over there... just keeping billions
of snowflakes out of your Camera lens was difficult...
Oh, and you were wondering what the Summit Snowfall actually
looked like "on Location"....
Try this soft focus "Colours Of Fun" on La Crete, just before the left turn
to Dunzee/Grand Prix.
The Skiing and Boarding conditions continue to favour those with
expert skills to take advantage of them.
Deep, tracked accumulations can meet or exceed any gym workout
routine you could come up with.
Follow us for a couple hours... we'll turn your Quad muscles into jello.
There was plenty of Smooth Green Terrain, but as discussed below,
the very soft top layer also requires a bit of muscle and a touch of finesse
to navigate and look good in.
Mountain Crews are working around the clock to compact and groom
as many acres as possible...
....but the snow keeps falling ... like 4 days now???
...Nice!
Hope to have a more detailed Apres Ski Late Night Edition
if we can get all the chores done... maybe... we hope.....

90(*) Open Trails on all 4 Sides of Tremblant!
Edge Sector Fans... Yer' Back On-Line!
This is one of the main reasons why......
Crude Measuring Devises.... Effective Depth Picture.....(**)
You don't need fancy measuring equipment outdoors at Tremblant
right now to see that the amount of Natural Snow here is a Dream
for Expert Skiers and Boarders alike.
It's a dream for beginners and intermediates too on much of the Groomed.
We want to point out that so much snow takes a day or two to integrate
on all the Groomed, so if you encounter portions that have heavier
accumulations that have not yet been compacted, don't be phased...
Tremblant Mountain Users that have a preference for the typically
flat, seamless corduroy will find miles of it, however, as traffic
makes its way during the day, the very top layers in such abundant
softness can begin to show tracking and irregular contours, so just be
careful for the next day or so, all you beginners and intermediates,
as Crews catch up with all the new Snow.
With a lot of mixed surfaces and depths, you will need to be careful
to match your skills with posted difficulty signs. There may be hand
posted signage on individual runs where the heavy snow is going
to be more of a challenge than what might normally exist if
Groomed. Pay Attention.... Take it easy... It's not race....
Go with the Flow... etc., etc., for "Careful"
A low, narrow stance for a stable "platform" underfoot and
enhanced balance recovery will definitely continue to be an asset.
All Day Long... Yesterday will live on in the memories of those lucky
enough to be here as one of those very special days when
being surrounded by Mother Natures late winter snowfall
of truly impressive quantity and beauty completely involves
you in the total experience.
Not only do you get to observe the remarkable speed with which
Nature can generate so much light, dry beautiful snow...
but you get to use it, navigate it, exercise in it, play with it,
feel it, touch it, fall in it, laugh with it, wonder at its beauty,
first hand, personally, in a way that leaves a permanent
impression of what the Joy of Winter Alpine Snow Sports are
all about.
Speaking of personal... Sometimes... especially if someone
might be new to Tremblant, or got held up by so much snow
that they were delayed getting back to the Summit to pick up
a back-pack or other, they can arrive late, past the posted closing
time of the Grand Manitou Summit Lodge. We are always happy to see
the Summit Customer Service and Info. Crews on station with the
belongings of those who got caught or delayed.
From Summit to Base, even though there are thousands of people
out on the Slopes, when it comes right down to the final moments
of the day, Tremblant Crews deliver personal service one at a time.
"Get The Picture"
Above: This is what we like...
(two pic's above, below, taken on same spot @ 180 Degree rotation
within 30 seconds.)
And the reason we like it is because this below, was the exact background for
the Souvenir Tremblant Summit, Pure Winter Panoramic these folks may
treasure as a family experience for years.... The impressive displays of Mother Natures Winter Wonders deserve to
be documented for all who attend Tremblant anytime, so it will not come
as any surprise to our regular readers here that we encourage one and all
to bring a Good Quality, dedicated Camera for best results. Most basic
pocket sized digital cameras will outperform Cell phone cameras because
they have lens that are many times the square surface area so they permit
exponentially more natural light for crisp, complete detail. As well, they have
Optical Zooms over Digital Zoom. Pure Optics for Zoom features will always
be better.
Speaking of Pictures....
The reason we only put wallpaper pic's in this Journal du Jour is that
they give the viewer the option of selecting a reproduction mode that permits
the biggest, best possible detail in a format that is currently practical to
publish and review without huge download time. We can appreciate that there
may be many who look at the pic's with a hand held devise, but we are
also aware that there are many who appreciate reviewing Tremblant
pic's on big, fullscreen devises like Gamer Monitors, High Quality Desk
Top Monitors or even Smart T.V.'s. Thumbnail style pic's will never deliver the
scope we want to convey, so we do not use them here... ever.
Below:
One of the challenges of spontaneous daily diary type photography is
that you don't always have time to set up a shot as carefully as you'd
like... there may only be seconds to try to capture what will only exist
momentarily... there may be things like Fog, Vibrating, Swinging, Moving
Chair lifts, long, hand held telephoto's, flat grey ambient light with tons
of snow in the air... we go for it anyway....
Just an excuse for this Hand Held 300 MM telephoto, backwards looking down
over the crest of Les Rapides, Versant Nord, North Side, while riding up
the Duncan Quad as it vibrates and swings over the towers on the way,
yesterday, mid-afternoon.... It's not perfect, but we like it anyway!
Snow Wonder Winter Colours Of Tremblant Fun...
With all the snow in the air, this pic above could never be "Pin Sharp"
focused, but that's the beauty of this moment in this day...
"Too Much Snow" for a good pic... Never! "Too Much Snow" is
the point of the pic.!
While the North had many almost intimate scenes with the densely
falling snow, the South had this spectacular momentary Light show where
Mother Nature cut a slot in the cloud and allowed Lac Tremblant to be lit up
like white neon against the otherwise overcast, grey background.
Only at Tremblant, Versant Sud, The South Side... Today's Weather ... Starts at -7 C, rising to -1 C, so really easy there
under partially cloudy sky's with light Sou-West breeze coming from
Soleil, across the Summit towards P'tit Bonheur. A very fine late winter
day that will be a joy to partake in.

Do not miss this opportunity if
it is practical for you to be here.
Even if it's slightly impractical for you
to get here, try anyway.
It is that good...
(**)
After we got the "Proof Of Snow" pic.s done(just by the small tree,
upper screen right), we were mushing around in the deep snow trying
to get Skis back on, when we realized this little picture might be fun too.
If it's been a long time since you played in the snow, you'll get the idea
here anyway. It's really deep and really fun! Links and not-so-fine print:
