4/5/13 Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360, Prime Time Apres Ski Intro... @ 9:15 P.M.

Here are 3 good reasons you want to be at Tremblant tomorrow...

1) It's been Snowing on/off, all over the Mountain. Cool temp., winter Snow
Squall patterns... you can see 'em coming a mile away...

2) Mountain Crews Are Working As Quick As Possible To Groom
all they can.

3) it's supposed to be Sunny, basically all day tomorrow.

Now then, can we wrap that up in one Apres Ski Photo???

You Bet !!! From "Last Run" today at Versant Nord, the North Side...

As well, it was an all-round fabulous day with almost flawless Surfaces
everywhere that we skied with our razor sharp, Old Atomic SL9 Vintage
Slalom Skis

Everything you need to support a decision to leave for Tremblant
right now, is before you on this topic/page, Above/Below...

Tremblant is a rare treat and under total Sun, tomorrow could
be an another exceptional day in a string of exceptional days.

Unfortunately, previous chores for this eve. do not permit
additional Apres Ski, but the bottom line is still ...

Go now if you can... this is one "Spring" for the books...

More in the morning...

68(*) Open Trails on South and North Sectors of Tremblant.

Big, Big Bonus.... X 2....

1) EXPO Quad Now on Open List !!!

Merci Tremblant! This is what's brought the Open Trail count
up to 68 from the initial 60 that was on the preliminary list
from yesterday.

2) It's Snowing!!!

In St.Jovite... all night long... not a big snowstorm, but a steady
fall of large quarter size, slightly damp, but 100% Snow!

So then... Add the new snow to this....

(When the light is right, capturing the sweet carving surfaces
of P'tit Bonheur shows off the meticulous grooming benefit
that all Tremblant guests get from one side to the other, and
top-to-bottom, on all the Open, Groomed Terrain.)

...and there's only one possible outcome...

Amazingly Good... Superbly Fantastic... Remarkably Fine...
Most Definitely Excellent, Skiing and Boarding!

If you started out with conditions like this:
Summit South Side McCulloch has been at it's very best for the past couple
of days as it was groomed to almost perfection. It does not
have any significant glitches at all and if your gear is tuned, you can
hang on to as many high performance carved turns as you have Muscle for.

....you don't need to be a Rocket Scientist to figure out that adding
a bunch of big, fat, fluffy SNOW on top of it all is going to generate
some truly and unusually fine conditions for the 5th of April!!!

We've looked at McCulloch on the South, let's turn our attention
to the North, were the consistency of fine surfaces for the recent past
has been nothing short of a Skiers/Boarders Joy...

Important to note that all pic's from all sides show so much snow
trailside in the bush. It's not just the great base that's winter-like healthy,
the whole Mountain is showing a very durable mantle of natural snow.

Towards the later part of the afternoon yesterday, it was easy to see
that there was a bit of "weather" headed our way...

We were doing Laps off the Duncan Quad and every single trip
showed the advance of this very dominant looking frontal formation....

Even though there was shadow over the distant hillsides, the Summit
of Tremblant stayed mostly sunny right up until the last couple of runs.

This Picture Below... is not ideal...
A spontaneous, hand held, long telephoto... with goggles down, no less,
and a bit fuzzy around the edges... but...

Guess what Trail this is...

But the Trail It Pictures Is Ideal....
We were going to toss this image, but the ideal conditions on freshly
groomed Banzai, particularly the lower half are absolutely outstanding
for any day of the season, let alone April 5th, so we're putting it in
anyway, just for the record. Somehow, despite the pictures imperfections,
the quality of the Snow Surface is very obvious.

Today's Weather... is supposed to be a very mixed up combination of Snow,
Sun, Rain, but... with an expected daytime high of +3 at South Base levels,
we anticipate all Summit sectors to remain "Winter" and with fresh Snow at that
with the usual 4 or 5 degree cooler elevation advantage.

The winds are moderate to brisk and from the Nor-West, so coming up
roughly over Nansen and headed towards Duncan across the Summit.

Get ready for a whole bunch of this....

If you live nearby or have any other practical way to
access Tremblant... like your Lear Jet is headed this way
already... Make Tremblant the priority it deserves to be
for this fabulous "Spring" that feels more like "Winter".

The Skiing and Boarding here now, would be considered very fine on
any mid-winter day, but to have that on the 5th of April...

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
