T360 NOON Update:
Open Trail Count Jumps Up From 73 to 88(*) Open
Soleil Sector Goes Fully "OPEN" including Algonquin @ 11:54 A.M.
--------------- 6:49 A.M. Orig. Post ---------------
73(*) Open Trails on 3 sides of Tremblant as the Soleil Sector
is on "Progressive" Opening status.
Severe Cold Winter Warning Still In Effect @ -27C
Today is the final day of this little taste of "Arctic".
We try to make the best of any weather, and we love the performance of
cold snow, but.....
...it's gunna be nice to warm up a bit. Less bulk in garment layers,
easier to deploy fingers for camera settings, toes that are on-line all day...
Oh well, no one can say it's just Tremblant that's been cold, weather historians
looking at this record 100 years from now will be able to correlate data for
this date and see that the cold snap we're in has covered most of Eastern North
America for about 5 days now and has been responsible for everything
from huge energy drains as people try to stay warm, right on up to fatalities.
When evening news reports include deaths of people found frozen in snowbanks,
mere meters from their own home front doors, you know it's unusual.
Looks like this on Web Cams:
Looks like this on the ground:
Expo Winch Groomed File Sample: At Least It's Sunny Outside!
EXCEPTIONALLY FINE GROOMED SURFACE QUALITY ADVISORY:
Best Carving of the Season so far? ... That is the likelihood with
several days of Grooming cycles that will be achieving very dense
layers of Pure Winter Snow Compaction.
The Grip, Traction, Speed and Control possible this morning should be
at "WOW" levels.
If you have the muscle, you may be able to come close to 1G of
lateral force on nothing but Skis or Board today.
If you want to do nothing but cruise, you'll be able to Float all over
Tremblant's Open Groomed Terrain with ease and gracefulness
using only gravity and finesse to stylishly navigate anywhere your
skill level allows.
Bottom Line On The Groomed...
These Conditions Make You Look Good.
--------- Conditions Caveat: -----------
On the Expert Un-Groomed...
There will continue to be a mix of Fine to Very Fine Natural Snow
Surfaces that require care to determine the best lines and
any potential hazards on initial explorations.
Do Not Assume... things are the same as they were yesterday,
and if you have not been on the selected trail since "First Tracks",
that they will be the same at "Last Run".
Un-Groomed Expert Terrain Is Subject To Daily Variable Traffic
Factors That Can Cause Evolving Hazard Situations.

Fantastic Near Term Weather Picture!

Bring Back The Memories...
Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
(
If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
