First thing this morning(because the wind was forecasted to get
quite strong later on), we talked about potential “Howling Factors”
and then, we said... “Yet”, because very early, it was calm at
Base levels with a gentle, steady snowfall...
That changed quite dramatically, to the point that the Expo Quad
had to be shut down due to unsafe conditions caused by the wind
in that spot. We can’t remember when the Expo Quad was last shut
for wind.
So, It is what it is, and Howling it was, not to mention...
moving cubic yards of Snow over to the North.
No Matter The Wind… you need to know that the Skiing/Boarding
within all rated Skill Levels is Absolutely Wonderful!
Nothing Skis like fine, well chilled, Fresh Powder!

profoundly, leaving one with the sense it was nightfall, but it was Noon.
There were times when the Sky looked Black and there was Sunshine
poking through at the same time, all the while, the wind was quite strong.

That’s bare ground, stripped of cover by the erosive force of Wind focused
on a very exposed section of ground. Keep that in mind…

we did not cross any icy bits at all today, so we concluded
that there was a significant improvement.

90(*)/95 Open Trails on the Overnight More Snow'd 4 Sides of Tremblant.
This is the Big Jump in Open Trails we’ve been expecting and
today should be a great day of discovery for not only those
additional Openings, but the overnight Fresh Snowfall. An Un-Official
10 CM’s, 5 inches, overnight and a 48 hour total, again Un-official, of
roughly 28 CM’s, or about 11 inches means there’s a lot of New Snow
out there!

like High Altitude “Out West” Powder.
While Mother Natures typical best Natural Snowmaking temps are around
-7 C, when she decides to make Snow on those very special occasions
at anywhere near -20’s C, this is what we get.
This Powder Snow Makes Lousy Snowballs ‘cause it doesn’t have
any dampness in it at all!
It’s not “Heavy” so it will take a 12,000 Pound Grooming Machine to
compress it and it will need a couple of days of Grooming cycles to
reach optimum density within the base.
In the Mean-Time … It’s A Tremblant Powder Alert Day!!!
Here in St.Jovite, at least, there was almost no wind as the snow fell,
so coming straight down it has covered everything quite evenly. How
that has taken shape on the Mountain is yet to be found, but in the
absence of any “Howling” factors yet, we’re hoping for similar.
We would guess most of it came between Midnight and 4 A.M. and
it’s still falling now, so Mountain Crews working through the night
may have groomed some, but there should be a fair amount of
very soft powdery top layer for all the "Fresh Freaks”!

Just About IDEAL FOR A SKI RESORT!
The wind components forecast may be “Brisk”, but that may
only cause some interesting Drifting Features!

1) There were some wind and wear exposed Icy bits yesterday.
THOSE MAY OR MAY NOT be gone with overnight Grooming
and a lot more snow, but Caution is still recommended for
Initial Explorations. Light dry powder can hide substrates.
2) Abundant, Fresh Deep Snow, Light or otherwise, can still
present challenges to Beginners and Intermediates. There will
be miles of Groomed Terrain, however Mogul formation
can occur. Control Speed at all times. Use your “Snow Plow”
as needed to do so.
