T360 Global Middle Of The Night Shift Apres Ski Edit @ 2:45 A.M. EST.
It was, as forecast, partially Sunny… for about 2 hours, just before noon.
Otherwise, it was overcast and occasionally, snowing.
The Skiing/Boarding are all Fine, Fast, Fun!
Fuzzy or not, these 2 pic.s below show very typical “Shred Depth”
on Tremblant’s Open Groomed Descents.
(Above/Below: Please Note: Amateur Photographer had Auto Settings
on 100 ISO in Flat, Grey Low Contrast Light, trying to capture Action… our error.
However, from an “Impressionistic” POV, even Phuzzy, Soft Phocus
still makes a clear point.)
As noted below in the Original Post, there are some very minor Icy
patches, but they are predictably below some crests, on steeper
portions where there are Traffic concentrations.
The Scenery… All Classic, Tremblant Snow White, Winter Magic!
We thought it was a Great Day, and if the forecast is correct with
Sunshine, Light to Moderate Nor-West Breezes, and a Daytime High Temp
of -9 C, tomorrow holds every promise of “Great” as well!
--------------- 7:55 A.M. Orig. Post --------------
94(*) Open Trails on the Snowy and Wee bit Windblown 4 Sides of Tremblant.
Anyone who was Skiing/Boarding Tremblant yesterday, knows full well
that there was quite a bit of “Active Weather” !!!
The Snow Surfaces Continue On At “Excellent”! (**)
The Vast Majority of Tremblant’s Surfaces are Excellent, Uniformly Firm,
Very Densely Packed and Groomed, Cold Formed Snow.
As an example, McCulloch has remained remarkably consistent despite some
“Full Frontal” Wind exposures.
The Scenery Continues On At “Spectacular”!
It’s been a few days now since we’ve had a single, big snowfall event,
and while the incremental smaller amounts all contribute to overall
quality, traffic and winds have rendered a very Firm Base over time.
The Carving performance on this Firm Base is superb because lateral
grip at the very extreme of possible angulations is rock solid(***).
(***) With Well Tuned Edges.

---------- ------- Conditions Caveats --------- ---------
1) There are occasional wind or traffic exposed icy substrates that occur
in individual patches as opposed to areas or sectors, which makes them
“minor” in our opinion. Even though they are very small in dimension,
they can non-the-less upset your balance if you encounter one at any
significant speed.
That said, it is vitally important to Explore Steeper Terrain, Below Crests
and/or Concentrated Traffic Zones Cautiously... before you go ripping around.
Once you’ve verified safe passage, have all the fun you want, but allow
extra space around others which leads us to ….
2) REMEMBER THE SKIER/BOARDER CODE.
(After witnessing an out-of-control “Bomber” crash into, then yell “You Cut Me Off”
at a Beginner weaving on Beauchemin Haut.)
If You Hit/Contact Someone While Passing OR EVEN Pulling Up Beside Them...
It’s YOUR FAULT… Period.
“They Cut Me Off” is NOT AN ACCEPTABLE Reason for ANY Accident.
Sudden, Unexpected or Erratic Moves by Beginners/New, Unfamiliar Guests
in front of you... Are Allowed...
...and YOU Have To be Able to Avoid ANYTHING!
(Please Note: We would like to apologize for this small Rant, we know
readers here are the least likely to need this type of reminder. It’s just
frustrating to constantly promote Safe Skiing/Boarding, then witness
not only a completely avoidable accident, but the absolute “Wrongness”
of the Individual that caused it. Bottom line… Promote The “Code” whenever
you can. The broken leg or concussion you save may be someone you know.)
----------- End Of Caveats ----------
Weather Notes:
Partially Sunny, Partially Overcast, Light Snow Flurries
floating around. Daytime high temp. @ -9C.
Light to moderate South Winds, so moving across the Summit from Soleil
towards La Crete and should be easy all day.
Another Super Easy Mid-Winter Day with all but 1 run(Vertige) Open!
