We have seen a variable rate of Surface Friction that affects Glide
over the last few days. It does not take away anything from Fun
or Enjoyment, but it does occasionally need a bit more skating
action to get across some of the plateau’s. No problem for Skiers,
but Boarders may need to pump the Board on the pitches prior to
any plateau’s in order to avoid having to dismount a foot for
propulsion.

We are speculating that it has something to do with Ambient Humidity
because on the mornings with cooler overnight lows, the Snow Surfaces
seem noticeably faster. Our experience is that properly waxed Bases
respond very well with retained speed, so if prepping your Skis/Board
Bases is an option for you, it’s definitely worth the effort.

Weather Notes:

So Far, All Winter, All The Time, warmer by far than those
deep freeze days of weeks gone by, but there is still an edge of cold
that sort of sneaks up on you, most noticeable in the Mornings.

Afternoons offer the advantage of increased Temp’s and when it decides to
Shine, additional warmth from the Sun, however to get that, one must be
below the Summit due to upper level wind velocities. We’ve found sheltered
Trail Side Spots within as little as 20 or 30 Vertical Metre’s below the Summit
though, so it does not take much to get a little Solar Warmth if you descend
a short distance on the opposite side facing the wind.

Todays High Temp is forecasted to be at -9 C and thankfully the expected
Wind Velocities Forecasted have been cut in half from Last Nights projections
and are currently from the West at Moderate to Strong with Gusty periods.

Riding up the Versant Soleil Quad or TGV on Versant Sud, The South Side,
the wind will be at your back, coming up either Duncan or Lowell Thomas,
Nord, North, and you’ll notice it most at the final crest to the Summit.
Bundle up, secure Overlaps and Seals in your outer layer and you should be fine.

The “Trending Topic” dominating the Public mind is today’s
Opening Day for the 2014 Winter Olympic’s in Sochi, Russia.

We see it in less Web and People Traffic on what should be
very well attended Tremblant Social Media, as well as so far,
shorter Lift Lines than we might expect for such a Gorgeous
Weekend day.

Bonus Benefit For Those Here Today, Less Traffic, More Runs
and consequently, some probability of similar for tomorrow.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
