4/11/18 #Tremblant Conditions

T360 Apres Ski, Early Eve. Update @ 6:11 P.M.

Earlier, in our Original Post, we wrote
this in the “Weather Notes” section about
the Rain Icons in the daily forecast:

"-Secondly, at this temp, there is some chance
of undetermined probability that at Cooler Mountain
Elevations it could be all Snow instead of rain..."

Here’s what happened...

Not a single drop of rain fell on the Mountain that we know of,
and what actually happened was big, fast, thick, Snowfall,
exactly as you see below.

It started to snow at a noticeable rate at shortly after 2:00 P.M.
By 3:00 P.M. it was snowing quite thickly over most of Versant
Nord, the North Side, and the Summit.

A Last Run Descent Line down Duncan Haut, Upper, Turn Left and
Glide up the Cat Track between Lowell Thomas and Devils River
to the Mid-Banzai entrance, then down Banzai Bas, turn Left at
the Bottom and shoot over to Sissy Schuss, Via Gagnon. Fresh
Tracks All The Way over between 1 and 3 cm’s of undisturbed
freshly falling Snow, on a near perfectly smooth, virtually flawless
base.

It is quite possible there are “Best Of Season”, or at least
“Equal To Any Previous Best Of Season" Trail Conditions
at Tremblant today. Almost unbelievable for April 11th.

Go If You Can...

It seems quite odd to be telling you, if you’re not here on April 11th,
that you’re missing one of the Best Weeks this Winter.

Awesome Conditions At Tremblant. Period.

As totally overused as “Awesome” is,
that is never-the-less exactly what
Tremblant is right now.

It is very weird to be writing in the context of such a decidedly Winter
ambience at this late stage of the Season, but here it is in all its Glory!
Winter just seems to refuse to let go, and for serious Skiers, it would
be hard to imagine this kind of Seasonal durability could be possible.

It could be argued that at April 10th, McCulloch was one of the
Top 5 days of the whole Season for Wall-To-Wall, Top-to-Bottom,
100% Pure Winter, Glitch-Free, Hard Charging, Race Carving,
Traction Action. It was Magnificent.

Any Day You Can Expert Carve Down The Entire Summit Pitch
Of McCulloch On Full, Fast 100% Dry Winter Snow, Is A Great Day!

Approaching Snow Squalls were visible all day, however
there was not a steady or appreciable accumulation.
The Sky Drama was absolutely fascinating though, and
occasionally, there was a vigorous dusting as one
of these active little cell’s passed over.

(only one of many)
Above: One of our Conditions Diagnostic Monitored Trail Favourites,
Marie-Claude Asselin. MCA is in excellent Mid-Winter condition.
Not a single Snowflake out of place, zero hazards, small natural moguls,
very easy and very beautiful.

And It Should All Be Nearly The Exact Same For
Much, maybe even all of Today, if we’re really, really lucky(**).

Weather Notes:

Today: A Sunny A.M.,but questionable P.M. due to afternoon
Precipitation with +5 C, BUT...

-Firstly, the Icons are small, mixed groups of 2, indicating
either light or quick passing, localized activity...

-Secondly, at this temp, there is some chance
of undetermined probability that at Cooler Mountain
Elevations it could be all Snow instead of rain...

-Thirdly, regarding the "quick passing, localized activity” part of #1, above,
it is also possible that all the Active part could completely by-pass the
Mountain, in which case it could be dry much of the time. Time will tell,
but you may want your Descente Poncho handy(?)...

((**) We have observed a wider than usual Temp Spread
between Summit and Base over the past few days, where
the Summit is Cooler than it normally might be. We’ve
seen as much as 6 to 7 degree COOLER Elevation temp’s
instead of the more usual -4 C. If that was to reoccur today,
it could possibly increase any probability of Precip. as Snow
over the Mountain.)
