T360 Apres Midnight, Apres Ski edit @ 12:19 A.M.
It Started to Snow with a significant accumulation just
around noon, and it was still snowing over the entire
mountain until about 6:00 P.M.

The temps were very easy at -3 C, but the breezes made it
feel a lot cooler.
The Snow was thick enough to obscure vision, especially
where combined with rolling, low, snow cloud moving across
the summit.

It snowed roughly the same on Sud, South and Nord,
North, although within those sectors there were localized
zones of wind induced drift-in. The deepest we found
was maybe a 10/15 cm’s.

It was all super-smooth and we had a great Carve-Training session
where we were frequently leaving fresh tracks through un-skied
trail-side edges.
Virtually everything we anticipated in the refinement of the newly
opened terrain occurred. The sample we've talked about regarding
Devils River and the coarseness of the initial particle sizes, were found
today with a much finer rendering that resulted in substantially improved
Ski experience. The icy section of Taschereau was almost eliminated
by grooming, so it was far easier to navigate and control descent
speeds.
Tomorrow and Sunday are forecast to be sunny and right at Zero C,
so you may see a fair degree of “Spring-Like” soft, but very responsive
surfaces across all skill levels.

All that beautifully natural snow has been integrated with
the base to produce a very stable, smooth, wall-to-wall,
summit-to-base Alpine Snow Sports Trail Network that
is exceptional for this time of year.

... Racing Over To Tremblant To Ski Them!
Yesterdays newly opening terrain that had a combination
of start-up conditions ranging from course to fine, should
all be more even with the grooming Night-Shift, and yet
again more even through the day today with additional traffic.
One of the best examples of near-ideal initial trail opening
conditions was Versant Nord, North Side Superieur, Trail # 93.

Superieur’s opening exhibited great ski-ability right from the top.
The amazing part for those of us who have been here at Tremblant
for decades is that the conditions on Superieur for the 2018 Opening
might be as good as any Mid-Winter day ever was as recently as 10
years ago. Having that kind of quality on day 1 seems miraculous,
but beyond that, one of the real joys is in the expectations of a whole
season to look forward to with this level to start with!
Attention Tremblant Trip/Holiday Planners:
If you are reading this from far away, like maybe “Across The Pond”, i.e.,
Milton-Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England, or maybe East Hampton, Long
Island, New York, U.S.A., what you have to look forward to for any upcoming
Tremblant Ski Holiday is going to based on an extraordinary early season
establishment of the Alpine Ski/Board Trail Network that in its maturity,
will afford you a most enjoyable vacation. For that reason, we specifically
encourage all Tremblant trip planners to do as much Gym-style Leg work,
and as much endurance cardio as you possibly can, now, so you do not have
to give up a single precious moment on these superb surfaces due to
premature fatigue or aerobic capacity.
Even modest pre-ski conditioning can yield benefits in the advantages of
power and durability when you’ve arrived on the slopes at Tremblant.
Weather Notes:
We are very glad to have overcast and snowfall at these
close to Zero C, Sud, South Base temps. Cooler Mountain
elevations should quite nicely hold all the “Winter” without
solar exposure, so we like this forecast a lot. Currently,
the “Snowfall” portion is occurring over the whole Mountain,
and with some considerable thickness, so we may see a
measurable addition by Last Run.

Conditions Notes:
On the vast majority of the Open, Groomed terrain, the finished
surfaces are immaculate, high traction, super smooth and very
easy to apply control moves on.
Typically, all the “Green” rated terrain is about 98% excellent,
the “Blue” terrain is about 92% excellent, and the “Black”
terrain is dynamically variable depending on groomed or
un-groomed, snowmaking base or natural snow base,
pitch angle, trail width.
The percentage of surface consistency is, in some cases, directly
proportional to pitch angle.
For example:
There was a very icy mid-section of Taschereau that was hazardous
and yesterday, it required extremely cautious speed to navigate
as otherwise, “gravity” and the “Laws of Physics” might cause
"undesirable consequences”. That will probably be different(and
better) today with Grooming, so as an example, it serves only as
an observational case study of what can happen.
In that regard it is critical that actual skill level be matched
with terrain selection, particularly on the fine line where
Intermediates are trying to move themselves up to Experts.
There’s nothing wrong with attempting significant challenge,
as long as the speed you start with can be held in control
at all times.
One over-riding factor specifically applicable to today is
the quickly rising temps. It could be generally said that
as temps. rise, conditions get easier and forgiveness
becomes more universal, especially across the array of
open, groomed Green and Blue rated terrain. Even slight
softness in the top layers improves directional control
as well as enhancing edge-set for speed regulation and
braking. It should actually be a fantastic day for learning.

The views from the lifts seem like you’re in some sort
of seasonal time-warp. You just KNOW, when you get off
at the top, regardless of “where”, there’s a great run coming
right up...
There’s just way to much snow around here to be anything else!
