1/5/20 #Tremblant Conditions

93(*) Open Trails on Sud/South, Nord/North, Soleil and Edge Sectors at #Tremblant .

The Last Day Of The Holiday Season.

An excellent, but bittersweet day for those
who have to travel.

All good things must come to an end, and for
Holiday Season visiting guests, today is that end.
But... If you subscribe to the concept of “Live In The Moment”,
you still have all day to carve out laps and laps of
real, genuine, Winter Alpine Ski/Board vertical.
If nothing else, you have that very sweet opportunity
of feeling the muscle soreness that comes with a final
push and an Expert easy 30,000 Vertical foot day.

Big Seasonal Terrain Development News.

One Of The Final Pieces Of Annual Trail Construction...

EXPO Sector Snowmaking!

Above is an Expo file shot from before Christmas when we first
observed some preparations for snowmaking. At one point portable
guns were deployed over the top entrance section, however looking
back over the the Archival Trail Status PDF data here, we do not see
any activated icons, so it appears as though this may be the first
combination of favourable circumstances for this sectors completion.
Any sign that Expo, Cossak and Dynamite are even on the way will
be very exciting news for the many, many dedicated fans of this
iconic Versant Nord, North Side marquis group of trails.

Weather Notes:

There seems to be something “funny” going on with
the wind velocity stats in the hourly forecast data.
The anomaly appears to be between the indicated
wind speed and the peak gust velocity.
Another “Breezy” day to start with?

Conditions Notes:

Welcome To NASCAR, Winter Version 2.0. At just around 12:30 P.M.
the Traffic Circle Roundabout’s leading away from the Mountain
are going to start looking like the NASCAR track at Bristol, Tenn., as
Regional Tremblant Ski/Board Fan Families begin to race home on
the very last day of the Christmas/New Years Holiday period.

Therefore, we predict that by 1:30 P.M. this afternoon at Tremblant may
begin to look like a Private Club Day, where those who have the fortitude
to stay on to Last Run, have the Mountain virtually to themselves.

We could be wrong, but it is a pattern we see and experience with
a reoccurring regularity to the point that it is an identifiably repeating
behaviour of mass groups that is easily observed. (This behaviour is
not exclusive to Tremblant, it can happen to variable degrees at every
Ski Resort.)

For that reason, we encourage all regional fans who might be a
party to this phenomenon to reconsider this questionable action
and stay for the whole day. The odd part is that the mad rush
often results in traffic jams and very slow driving on the roads
away. Enjoying very sweet Skiing/Boarding all afternoon, then
leaving later, often results in faster and far more relaxed net
transit times.

Otherwise, we forecast very fine Alpine Ski/Board conditions
all day today because it is the morning after a somewhat warm
day yesterday and the overnight grooming in a solidly Sub-ZeroC
environment should produce a noticeable refinement in uniform
Summit-to-base trail quality.

If we are right about potentially, relatively, light traffic, the
consistency of conditions should easily be all day durable
and within the Groomed array, mogul resistant right up
last run. Beginners and Intermediates will enjoy exceptionally
smooth terrain and it will be a great day for kids of all ages to
rev around wide open Mountain spaces before everyone has to
go home and settle back into school routines.

The Transit Exodus Away appears to have started
about 45 minutes earlier than we forecast.

On an absolutely beautiful Sunday at 12:45, why there are fewer
people than on some weekdays is completely illogical to us?
How could the Mad Rush to be on a highway traffic jam to
anywhere be worth missing such a fine afternoon?

Today may indeed be the end of the Official
X-Mass/New Yr. Holiday period, but it’s also
the beginning of the Official Winter Ski Holidays
where dedicated Destination Travellers who
have been wise enough to book a Ski-Week
at Tremblant, start arriving. So, while the bulk
of flow may be outbound, there are going to
be some lucky folks who are pulling into Tremblant
this evening for the start of January’s regular ski weeks.
You’ve got lots to look forward to!

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
