T360 Way Early Apres Ski Short-Form Edit @ 6:23 P.M.

Another Day Of Ghost Skiing With Spooky Good Conditions.

This one pretty much sum’s it up, at least atmospherically...

Fly under the radar, fly in the cloud, no matter, as long as
you could maintain good vision for safety, the surfaces
were rocket-fast and very sure footed. Trail edges have
more soft snow, but if ya got Ski/Board edges, you can
go just about anywhere.

New Open Banzai/MCA/Tunnel, in raw format. You need to be
careful as there are early season conditions with some natural
Pre-Cambrian hazards. These trails are like Tremblant circa
1975. Very popular today!!!

More in the morning.

HUGE VERSANT NORD/NORTH SECTOR BREAKING NEWS:
REVISED Open Trails to 41(*) Archival Data Attached Below.

Banzai and Marie-Claude Asselin OPEN!!!!

More on this later, but for regular readers,
you know why this is a very big deal for all
Expert Tremblant Fans!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

You May Not Believe This, But...

There Were Periods Of Very Close To Perfection At Tremblant Yesterday...

And while the weather may be more consistently overcast,
we expect the Ski/Board conditions to be the same today.

An absolutely spectacular Mother Nature range of scenic wonders.

Seamlessly Smooth, Fabulously Fast, Effortlessly Excellent, Wonderfully Winter....

The performance and the forgiveness were proportionally equal to the versatility(#)
across the range of Skill Levels of Open Terrain.

(#) Versatility across Skill Level Open Terrain is a reference to Experts finding useful/rewarding
conditions in lower rankings of challenge and Beginners and Intermediates finding useful/rewarding
conditions in higher rankings of challenge. Of course this concept has more transferable attributes
to Experts who can go anywhere compared to Beginners and Intermediates who are limited in upward
challenge due to safety and control capability. Never-the-less, the current level of “Easy” across
the groomed trail array does lend itself to upward mobility for both Beginners and Intermediates
because of the inherently high levels of “Forgiveness” in the surfaces that allow little mistakes to be
absorbed without tendencies to “Catch Edges” or put you off balance.

We have been theorizing for the past couple of days about “Best Of Season, So-Far” conditions
and we think a very persuasive case could be made for that level yesterday, as well as today,
if it all holds up the way we think it should. The temps have been stable sub-zero for several
days, and even though they have risen, we have not broken through to the “Plus” side, so
all the grooming refinements over multiple days are accumulating finer and finer quality.
Combine that with the beneficial effect of the upward temp trend that generally facilitates
a degree of softness to occur in the top layers for enhanced edge-set retention during the
apex of the applied turning force in a carving mode, and you end up with an extremely
responsive level of trail surface quality that extends to virtually every corner of the Open Terrain.

Weather Notes:

Hey... has anybody noticed the days are getting longer?

Just kidding of course, but seriously, yesterday was the shortest
day of the year and now we get to see an ever-so-gradual increase
in daylight. It will take weeks before most people notice but it does
build up daily from this point forward.

And then there’s this:

There is a small chance that because the heaviest precp. is supposed to
be at evening/night, a time when Mountain Elevations may be cool enough,
it could generate snow instead of rain??? The probability may be low, but you
may be amazed to learn that weather forecasting can be wrong from time to time.
All it would take would be a drop in the actual temps by a couple or 3 degrees
and the outcome could be a lot different. We can only hope...

Conditions Notes:

Important Repeat From Above:

Seamlessly Smooth,
Fabulously Fast,
Effortlessly Excellent,
Wonderfully Winter....

Throughout the Opening sequence since late November, there have been
relatively few times when there is any kind of Lift-Lineup. Crews have
delineated the Covid-19 distancing standards to all the lift base corrals
so there are fairly wide margins between outboard lines until the funnel
down to the actual lift gate. Since the weekend though, there have been
some noticeable increases in the Skier traffic. This Versant Nord/North side
Lowell Thomas Quad Base shot below was typical of many of the lifts, about a
3 to 5 minute wait for most. The longest line we encountered was about 8
minutes at a busy period for the TGV.

Covid-19 Updates:

We have had several inquiries about Quebec following the recent status
change with Ski area closures in the adjacent Canadian Province of
Ontario as part of the Covid-19 containment efforts. It is unclear whether
ultimately Quebec Ski Areas will similarly be affected. For now, it appears
not, however as announced last week by the Government here, Quebec will
go into a “holiday pause” as of Dec. 25, with schools and non-essential
businesses closing until Jan. 11. The two Provinces have successfully worked
very closely on many Covid-19 issues since last March, however, expressed
as a percentage component contribution to the economy, the Ski Industry
is a far larger in Quebec, so it is a lot more complicated to administer
change. It may ultimately become a matter of Government regulation
and changes may occur quicky, if and when they do.

Assuming continued Open status...
We are not exactly sure how the Christmas/New Years Holiday will affect
lift lines. Traditionally it can be quite busy, but in a pre-vaccine Covid-19
world, there’s no experience to make much of a forecast for. All Tremblant
Guests are urged to be patient while there is a pandemic around. We are
lucky to be here at all, so we urge mask-wearing and a sensible respect for
distancing in the lines to reduce crowding risks.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
