100(*) Open Trails.

-------- Insert Update: -------------------

REVISED Open Trails To 102/102

FIRST TIME FULLY OPENED THIS SEASON.

Archival Data Attached Below.

Please Note: This update happened earlier in the day however we were
not able to record it until end of Open Hours.

----------------------------------------

Big, Big, Record Breaking Continental Multi-Storm System:

Snowed On X 14 Cm’s, but there will be significant wind shaped drift-in
at Tremblant well above that. Plus... There’s more on the way...

WOW... We always include”Big Picture” Regional and/or Continental
weather context so readers present and future know that Tremblant
weather is rarely a singular bubble and on any scale we’ve ever recorded,
this multi-storm system certainly qualifies as one, if not the single
largest, ever?

This is all brought to you by a Mother Nature deflection in
the Jet Stream that has dipped all the way from the Siberian
Alaskan Arctic, down the West Coast of North America, all
the way to Mexico, then sweeping diagonally back up towards
Greenland. Along the way, just for the fun of it, a very large
system has been moving Northbound up the East Coast,
Via the Caribbean Sea, and these two gigantic active systems
are colliding pretty much over Tremblant.

Here is a repeat from yesterday with some of that referenced:

Even though the total flow pattern of the Jet Stream system
might be roughly 15,000 Km’s, the span of width between
“Snow” and “Rain” is a relatively small concentration of less
than 250 North/South Kms almost exactly at Tremblant’s
Longitude. Wow... again. Thank goodness we’re on the right
side of this one...

Weather Notes:

Locally speaking, while it’s snowed a bunch, and it’s still snowing,
it’s not a Blizzard, at least so-far. At this stage we’re on the north
side of the most dense intensity, so what we have up to this point
is a really good ‘ole snow storm that just happens to be part of a
100 Year Continental Record.

Conditions Notes:

It is our observation that 10 cm’s of snowfall at once is
about ideal for one-pass Grooming efficiency, so at todays
Official 14 cm’s, we’re a bit above and that means there
may be lingering softness in some zones that will need
another night-shift to get compaction closer to optimized
density. This is notwithstanding that it is still snowing
right this second, and expected to keep on snowing for
most of Open Hours today. The net result is an evolving
situation that could see a wide range of variable conditions
affected by both grooming to this point, plus what’s on
the way now.

Just to throw in some other possible reasons for variable
surface conditions is the “Drifting” factor. There has been
vigorous wind delivery for this snow, so frontal, wind facing
expanses may have less snow accumulations and lee-side
sheltered zones away from the wind where the snow can
drift in, may likely have more.

These are only some of the factors influencing todays
unique fingerprint, so it is critical that all Tremblant Guests
have patience while Mountain Op’s sorts it all out. Take
care to remain in appropriately matched Skill Level rated
terrain, especially if and where the Ski Patrol have hand-posted
signage.

Rendering the effects of this multi-day event could
take multi-days. At least it’s all snow, so hang in there,
it’s all good, and this will no doubt be one of the seasons
“Big Ones”, so overall a welcome contribution to the totals.

In the Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste, and Un-Groomed, the
likelihood is this will end up being a hugely positive addition
to the snowpack because the Trees act as upper level wind buffers
that tend to allow snow to accumulate at ground level very effectively.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
