T360 Apres Midnight Apres Ski Quick Edit At 12:29 A.M.
Cool, But Classic, Crisp, Clear, Authentic Tremblant White Winter!

-20 C at the Summit today definitely qualifies as “Cool”
and when you consider the 30 year average temps
in the long range graphic below, it qualifies as
a lot cooler than usual, but Mountain Crews are
capitalizing on the opportunity to consolidate the
trail base in many locations with a blended natural
and blown composite top strata. Shown above is
just one example, Versant Sud/South Side Beauvallon.
Inset Detail: zoom-in to TGV Quad base shows traffic at
very light.
Cool again first thing tomorrow, but should
be up to -13C by just after lunch, plus... more all-day snowfall.
It’s literally getting better every day.

Here’s What 30 Cm’s Of Fresh New Snowfall
Looks Like In One Event.
Technically, this is not going to be the whole picture
either, because it was taken at about 2:30 P.M., and it
was still snowing, heavily at times, so there will likely
be more now.

The profile of snow deposit on the fallen tree branch
actually gives a pretty fair representation of how
the snow gets laid down over the slopes. You can see
a very direct relationship between angle and depth
and that's not far off the way you could describe how
the whole Mountain has benefited from this wonderful
addition to the seasons total.
Below is a sample of approximately 25cm’s of snow
accumulation within the Nansen Haut/Upper sector.
This pic is actually on the final few metres of Trail # 2,
La Crete, where it intersects with Trail # 1, Bon Vivant,
roughly 50 metres parallel/adjacent to Nansen Haut/Upper,
at the top of the pitch.

The ski tip barely visible above is 123mm wide, and it is not
sitting on the base, it is at about a 45 degree angle as far as
we could push it. There was just too much snow to get the
whole ski and boot any further into the depth here. This deep,
thick snow made forward motion here a challenge which is
most unusual for a Green zone that is normally similar to the
surface of a billiard table. This is the essence of the challenge
Mountain Crews have to get this all assimilated into the base.
History may show that this is the either the
largest, or one of the top 2 or 3 single snowfall
events of the entire season, but we would be
happy to be wrong on that.
We would also have to say that when there
is a 30cm’s single snowfall event and the
Open Trail count goes from 84(48 hours ago),
to 70, this morning, Mountain Crews are engaged
in a very large strategic foundational operation
to integrate/process all the new snow for
the good of the whole seasons quality and
durability. This seems particularly evident
with the concurrent snowmaking as indicated
on the Official trail status doc.
From a functional POV, here is what most of the day
looked like. Considering that it also looked just like
this in most Green zones, you can also get another
good idea of the logistical challenge Mountain Crews
have to groom it all. It’s going to take a little while...

Weather Notes:
Conditions Notes:
There will be select zones of very well compacted
groomed surfaces, primarily over both Nansen and
P’tit Bonheur for the express benefit of Beginners.
However, on the overall expanses of groomed, there
may probably be lingering softness and a tendency
to generate traffic-formed moguls for a day or two
until multiple overnight grooming cycles can achieve
closer to ideal rates of compaction.
From the standpoint of a beneficial, additional strata
in the layers of the base, this is a wonderful overnight
enhancement, but it does take time to integrate, so we
urge guests to be patient and default to cautious
explorations with slow speeds until safe passage is
assured for individual skills and abilities.
Conditions for the day could be highly evolutionary
not only due to traffic flows, but also due to the way
the wind shaped snow retention around the Mountains
contours. For example, there were portions of Nansen
that had 30 cm’s powder lines at the same time the
middle wind-facing pitch of P’tit Bonheur had bare,
wind blasted base exposure. These unique situations
usually occur in zonal patterns, so if you encounter
either challenge or ease suitable for your skill-set,
you may want to stick with what works for today.
In the Open Sous Bois/Hors Piste and Un-Groomed
Expert zones, this is undoubtedly the best possible
news bushwhackers could get. It won’t take long to
get tracked up though, so today will be the ideal
freshness experience for this group.

If you are just tuning in for the first time today, for the most
complete level of understanding of these conditions, you need
to scroll back through the preceding 2 or 3 days in order to
review the evolution of this giant weather system.
Please Note: The Versant Nord/North Side Duncan Quad is out
of service for a scheduled maintenance. This cable was replaced
last summer and requires a tightening now that is routine after
its initial service period. Opening is rescheduled for 1/19/22.
