Very, Very Important Level Of Seasonal Snowfall Attainment At 411cm's
The 20 year average seasonal TOTAL is roughly 420cm's, so in any season
reaching 411cm’s on Feb. 28, with another 6 weeks to go, Tremblant is
headed for an annual accumulation of well above average status.
What this means for prospective near-term Tremblant visits is the
well above average quality in the base of the groomed Alpine Trail
Network, as well as the immediate recovery of most of the Sous Bois
Hors Piste and Un-Groomed trails that have been off-line since the
recent freezing rain event.

Yesterday’s weather drama featuring white-out intensity
snow squalls and very vigorous wind gusts was certainly
both interesting and productive. There was significant
drifting and we think that’s why there’s been a large degree
in recovery in the open Sous Bois/Hors Piste zones.
Look below at the Edge Sector trail status, it’s all
back on line today. What happened was that the
snowfall intensity came with a directional shift that
originated in the South-West quadrant, over the Soleil
sector, swing around to West, rising over the Mountain
up the McCulloch corridor, then finally ending up from
the North-West, rising up over the Nansen Sector, all the
while drifting over the Summit to settle into the Lowell
Thomas and Edge Sectors. Fantastic.
We can tell you for a fact there will be contour drifting in
these Sous Bois/Hors Piste zones that could be up to double
the recorded stats.
On top of that, all the snow fell in the lower temperature
ranges of Mother Natures most prolific productions, so
it is a very light, dry, Rocky Mountain style of powder snow
that is essence of what bushwhackers want because it is
easy to navigate through at these depth levels. More fantastic.

Weather Notes:
The Winter That Just Won’t Quit... Continued...
Wow... day after day of way cooler than average temps is certainly
going to be enhancing the durable quality of winter for the foreseeable
future. Considering the old weather expression of March either comes
in as a lion and out like a lamb, or in like a lamb and out like a lion,
it seems pretty clear to us that “In Like A Lion” is going to be the
historical context for 2022.
Conditions Notes:
Extraordinary groomed trail quality across the entire range of
the Official listings below with the groomer icons attached.
The official Trail Status says 15cm’s of snowfall in the stat's
data header, however the total stat for yesterday morning was
at 392cm’s and is now showing 411cm’s, so if you do the
math that is actually 19cm’s. We’re not exactly sure why that
difference is there, but the reason it could be important on
a functional level is that 10cm’s is the ideal amount of a
single snowfall for optimized compaction in one overnight
grooming cycle, so with virtually double that, there could be
some lingering softness prone to mogul formations on some
steeper runs in the Intermediate/Expert, Blue/Black rated
trails. The bottom line here is that if you are a Beginner or
Intermediate, warm up thoroughly in the Green terrain before
cautiously exploring additional challenge.
For Experts, have fun anywhere and everywhere because days
like today are what you live for as a certified skiing enthusiast.
It should be noted that the only remaining trail closures are
primarily within the Un-Groomed category where icy steepness
has not yet been recovered. It is possible that if machine time
and labour resources permit, there could, maybe, be some winch
grooming but that is undetermined potential at this stage, so
for real Expert steep fans, additional patience is needed until
Mountain Op’s and the Ski Patrol determine safety in those trails.
