T360 Late Eve. Apres Ski Edit Under Construct @ 11:05 P.M.
A Wonderful Day Of Mild And Easy Winter
Performance With Very Light Traffic For A
Prime Weekend Saturday.
We have no idea why there were not more
Ski/Board enthusiasts out today, they missed
a superb all-winter day, maybe the last genuine
middle of winter type day if you consider the
overnight through tomorrow hourly weather
forecast.
In the meantime, guests had the entire day to
search the far corners of Tremblant’s highest
levels of seasonal grooming refinements. In that
connection, we would like to draw your attention
to another trail that is part of the group we consider
to be key markers of very high quality, Trail # 24,
Versant Sud/South Side “Ryan”, Haut/Upper.
3.5.22.Sud.South.Ryan.Haut.Upper.Groomed.Wide.Smooth.Level.c.jpg
When groomed, Ryan Haut/Upper becomes a fantastic technical
SL/GS style trail with a single Black Diamond Expert skill/pitch
angle rating, but it also becomes a great candidate for aspiring
Experts, a group we call “Confident Intermediates”.
Without the usual, complex, and very much Expert moguls, Ryan
becomes very doable for all that can execute sequential alternating
parallel style turns, even if their turn initiation phases are still based
on snowplow/pizza slice basic technique. In this way, groomed Ryan
becomes another of the most versatile and sophisticated trail
refinements at Tremblant. More on Ryan in the morning.
Otherwise...
On paper, the weather potential does not look so good for
tomorrow, but there is always hope that the forecast will
be wrong, or that the differences between ground levels
and Mountain elevations could be substantial. So-far there
has been a bit of snow and the temp is still at -3C.
What kind of surprises could we find in the morning?
Only Mother Nature knows for sure...

For the most part, yesterday was bright and sunny...
Exactly the way it’s forecasted for today...

However, the wind was at times blustery and because the
snow is so light, it was being moved over the Mountain in
substantial volume at times. There will be benefit in today
from the drifting as there was rapid accumulation occurring
in many lee-side contours especially on the Nord/North.
There were times when you could see Mother Nature moving
tons of loose surface snow over the Summit to drift in over
the Nord/North. In this pic. below, the dusty snow in the air
is going from left to right, literally sideways, and this process
was evident at a steady rate for hours.

Weather Notes:
For today, a super-easy extension of yesterday in
the sense that all the chill in the hill will still be there,
but the air temps are warm, so warm and sunny that
there may even be some sunburned cheeks by Apres Ski!
Please Note: Re Sunday Potential Adverse Weather Forecast:
Due to the typical -4 C Elevation Differential, there is some
probability that over Mountain elevations, this entire precipitation
cycle could be snow. We could be wrong, but... in our favour are
the years of experience that this record includes, where similar
mid-single digit “+” temp values have rain at ground levels, but
can produce significant snow up on the slopes. All we can do is hope...

Conditions Notes:
Generally, excellent, generally everywhere, however...
Just to be totally objective, there are some odd little icy
bits where either wind or traffic concentrations have exposed
the solid base. They are very small and if you have recent
tuned edges, they will seem smaller still, to the point of
almost being insignificant. Never-the-less, regardless of
skill level or tuning, it is therefore wise to explore with an
awareness for patterns and anticipate where speed should
be reduced going over crest downsides or on some steep
wind-facing pitches. Basically, if you’re carrying a lot of
speed, you don’t want to hit an icy bit in the middle of a
hard turning action.
In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste category, this is a primary insight:

In the Un-Groomed category, tell your quad muscles
to get ready for this:
