On A Day That Many Will Be Willing To Discard,
On A Day That Many Will Say You’d Be Nuts To Be Out On,
There Can Actually Be Great Fun, And Clinical Excellence.
You Just Have To Be Ready For It...
3.8.12.Sissy.Schuss.Descente.Poncho.jpg
The Descente brand Poncho has always been available at the
Tremblant outfitter shops and the price at somewhere just above
$100. bucks makes it the outstanding rainy gear value of the decade.
We say “decade" specifically because ours are over a decade of age
and still working flawlessly. The file shot reference pic. you see above
is now over 10 years old and we can tell you for a fact that the exact
same poncho is still in service today. The quality and functionality of
this essential All-Weather skiers kit is indisputable. The only thing you
need to do is hang-dry immediately after use, then carefully fold and
store. You will laugh at rainy days, have surprising amounts of fun, and
the Poncho can also be used for being out in rainy weather for camping
or sporting events/activities for any other days of the year.
In the mean-time...
The Bulk Of The Seasons Winter Snow Is Still All Here.
Tremblant360 Current 3.18.22 “Proof Of Snow"

Please Note: The ski pole grip you see was a vertical plunge into the
snowpack just to the trail-side left of the topographical peak of trail # 66,
Le Tunnel. We could have pushed this pole under the surface level, but
left it visible for the sake of illustration. The pole is 122cm’s, but because
it is not touching the ground we do not know the exact depth other than
to say it is “Lots”.
The grass may be green back in “Yourville”, but here at Tremblant
there are metres of snowpack depth.
Weather Notes:
As usual for rain forecast periods where the icons in the hourly
forecast show “light” rain, i.e., 2 drops instead of 4, it means
that the active rainy bits are typically periodic over the fixed
location of the Mountain because the weather is traversing
the region in bands. In this way, the Mountain can actually
remain mostly dry if either the bands are somewhere else,
or widely spaced apart. Unfortunately, the probability of
steady rain is highest where the icons show 4 drops, although
even then, the active bits may be in bands that are localized
to other corners of the region.
Also... due to the very low cloud ceiling, the Summit is currently
in the cloud, so it can commonly be that it may only be, or seem,
foggy, not to mention that rainy seems to occur mostly below
the cloud, not so much in the cloud. In these ways it can be
that the Mountain stays periodically or even mostly dry as well.
From an overall “Spring” standpoint, what we really need is
the return to a daily cycle of frozen overnights. It is this daily
“reset” that helps to perpetuate both the quality and quantity
of coverage, so we are happy to see that trend being forecast
in the 14 day long range outlook that now includes the first
days of April.

Conditions Notes:
It’s Just One Of Those Kinds Of Days....
3.28.17.Sud.South.Summit.Taschereau.Super.Shred.Soft.Descente.Poncho.Weather.c.jpg
It is a fact that rainy days can have some of the very best
clinical excellence in all skill levels of the groomed category
of trail finishing because there is huge mechanical advantage
in the absolute reliability of the soft, shreddable, grip levels.
All you need to do is be able to stay reasonably dry, so...
We automatically feature, promote, and generally advocate for
the use of the Descente brand Poncho on rainy forecast days
because it is the most practical way to remain dry. Look at what
the Ski Instructors are wearing today... Look at what the Ski Patrol
are wearing today... If it’s good enough for the resident “Pro’s”,
we can tell you for a fact it will work for you.
Other options for staying dry could be a complete set of “Gil”
brand “Foul Weather” sailing apparel, but that is a very expensive
alternative that may not be within either the practical use or financial
reach of average Skiers for only a handful of days like this in a season.
One thing for sure... you don’t need to worry about being cold,
compared to winter -20C’s this is HOT, at least if you can stay
functionally dry.
Second thing almost for sure... a few rain drops freak out the
general skiing population, so typically, it’s a very light traffic
day which means you may actually have fresh corduroy tracks
for the entire day as you cruise around by yourself...

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
(

First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
