2/3/23 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

.

83 Open Trails On Sud/South, Nord/North, And Edge Sectors At #Tremblant .
Please Note: Soleil Sector And Duncan Quad Closed Due To Extreme Cold(#).
( (#) Safety in deep cold is a concern for lift evacuation in case
of mechanical or power loss emergencies. The Soleil and Duncan
Quads are the longest lift lines at Tremblant and would be very
difficult to evacuate quickly enough when passengers could be
subjected to wind-chill values @ -40’s/50’s for extended exposures.
T360 totally supports all Mountain Op’s safety first policies.)

Yesterday we had...

Absolutely Fantastic All Day Fresh Tracks New Snowfall,

And All That Great New Snow Is Still There, However...

Today's Challenge Will Be Safe Utility With -50 C Wind-Chill Potentials.

The skiing yesterday was a smooth, silky, and in a bit of a
surprising way, had a unique dreamy sense of floatation.
We have written about this fluid-like sensation before and
described it as a "je ne sais quoi” factor, recognizable,
sort-of intangible, and while not completely definable,
still desirable and very greatly appreciated.

Virtually every run, a fresh tracks delight.

All that great snow is still here and still functionally excellent,
but in todays weather, ever-so-slightly impractical to access.

-------------- Supplementary Forecast Data: ---------------

Please Note: A review of preceding days forecast material
will show that absolute temps are not as cold as some
forecast models projected, so we are ahead of the game
on that score. What can not be completely accounted for is
the amplified cold effect of variable windchill which remains
as the single largest influence beyond any ambient/numeric
temp values.

Conditions Notes:

The new snow that fell so thickly yesterday was absolutely
fantastic and it made the day a continuous fresh tracks day, so...

Both the Groomed and Sous Bois snow surfaces should be technically
very fine to excellent, however and very obviously, at -26 C and dropping,
plus quite windy, the challenge will be practical use in today’s extreme
wind-chill cold.

-------- T360 Conditions Caveat: ------------

Extreme Hazard/Risk Of Frostbite Injury.

This Is A Legitimate Personal Safety Danger Zone.

Deep cold shock to the Human machine
can cause loss of feeling where in fingers
and especially feet, pain is not properly
registered. Additionally, even brief exposures
measured in seconds, exposed skin can be
damaged, so small gaps around helmet and
goggles for examples, can result in skin damage
that can affect you for weeks following.

This is a possible/likely no small children operational weather zone.

------------------------------

Please Note:

The snowfall total shown as 402 cm’s is(too low) incorrect.

This is the same number shown as the day before, however
we can tell you for a fact the whole Mountain got heavy
snowfall that in revolving squall conditions was accumulating
at rates up to 3 or 4 cm’s Per Hour.

We would estimate the actual increase should be
at least (+/-) 15 cm’s.

We hope there is an adjusted total to show this increase
as it is an absolutely genuine and very significant addition
to the total volume and quality that generated one of the
very best all-day fresh tracks days of the season.
