The Week Of The Big Push...
The week before the 24 Hour Children’s Charity Fundraiser
is always a week of a very big push to develop and open
additional Versant Nord/North Side terrain for the benefit
of the public attending who are not involved with the event.
This is an effective compensation for the loss of use on the
Versant Sud/South Side terrain that becomes restricted to
public access because it is Summit-to-Base event specific
during next weekend.
Two zones that we think are going to be the most influential
in adding a massive degree of additional square area are
serviced by the Expo Quad, including Vanier to Duncan Bas/Lower,
and Sissy Schuss to Fuddle-Duddle Bas/Lower, of which
Fuddle-Duddle Bas/Lower is showing with snowmaking icons
on it this morning for the first time this season.
Another first for snowmaking is Versant Sud/South Side
Summit level Trail # 23, Taschereau, a huge local’s favourite,
so there are going to be a lot of very happy folks to see
that one on the list. We might/maybe see that as a bit
further off, like about a week from today, however we
could be wrong and it might be sooner? This one is a
bit more complex as it has overlapping access zones
that may be involved with the 24Hr. event course.
------------ 10:13 A.M. Insert Update: ---------------
Please note: For the benefit of the ski/board public
not associated with the 24Hr Event, there is a lot
of Nord/North expansion work going on. Below
is one example that you can see looking closely
at the rough cut grooming of Duncan Bas/Lower
just behind the snowmaking row. This is a great
sign for this zone arriving imminently.

Weather Notes:
No... we are not freaked out by the rainy bits this next
48 hours could have, mostly because this data is for
Sud/South base level, and practically everything above
that level on higher Mountain elevations is commonly
as much as -4C cooler, so there is some probability
that up on the trails, we could see mostly, if not all,
snowfall. We could be wrong, but the stat’s are
historically on our side with this forecast profile.
Regardless, it is a very brief thermal/wet event forecast
and even if there was a spot of rain we would not see
that as a negative in the big picture because any little
wet injection followed by grooming cycles enhances
the density and foundational smoothness of the trail
base, right at that moment. That can ultimately be a very
positive thing for future trail durability as a “Boiler Plate”
super densely compacted base layer strata that becomes
almost impervious to future thermal events.

Conditions Notes:
Across All Skill Levels...
Another notch upwards in groomed refinement with an
added component of fresh snow in an increasingly positive
blend ratio of natural snow over the blown and machine
engineered base. What we’re seeing being developed and
using now and in the coming 2 or 3 weeks are the foundations
of what will be the durable core of trails that will last all the
way to April. Of course “The Big Push” also includes what
Mountain Crews hope to have for the Christmas/New Years
Holiday period too, but in that case, we’re going to be
looking to Mother Nature for a bit of co-operation in
both temps and natural snowfall to really boost all the
human efforts.
The comparatively very light weekday traffic should
show almost no stress so our forecast is for all day
smoothness and mogul resistant consistency.
Archival Copy of Official Daily Message:
Bonjour Tremblant! The mountain is absolutely breathtaking
this morning, blanketed in fresh, powdery snow!
We’ve received 25 cm of new snow in the last 3 days,
and it’s only getting better! Today, once again, the
summit will be accessible via the Cable Car from the
South and the Duncan from the North. From the summit
to the North Base, you can enjoy the stunning views
via the Beauchemin trail.
Please take note that the alpine touring trails are closed.
The forecast is looking fantastic, and we're gearing up
to open even more skiable trails and lifts in the
coming days. Several mountain areas are currently
being progressively snowed in, all in preparation for
our highly anticipated 24h Tremblant event, happening
from December 13th to 15th. Get ready for an
unforgettable winter adventure!
Mountain Safety Tip of the Week: Respect signs and closed trails
