Please Note: Due to Family Christmas travel logistics,
reporting here may be limited or delayed for the next 3 days.
Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding and you
should be on your way to the Mountain to go skiing anyways....

Weather Notes:

We continue to be amazed that there is such a stable
air mass over the region that has so little wind forecast
for so long a time period. Anecdotally we’d have to
say that we can not recall if/when there's been a forecast
profile like this one before, if ever. Most extraordinary
for early winter, but at these temps, totally welcome for
the slight advantage represented by far less wind chill
while stationary.

There will probably be some thermal/solar breezes floating
around, but in a calm, sun facing, safe trail side rest stop,
you’l be able to feel heat from the sun in less than a minute.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

Clinically wonderful, but practically, a “Bundle Up” challenge.
However, we can tell you for a fact that the rewards of
being able to experience the performance excellence
of authentic cryogenic snow is worth every ounce of
effort it takes to be prepared for it.

The typical traction action in these conditions is astounding
for the reliability of retained turning force because of the
consistency in the lateral grip over miles and miles of near
flawless descents. The performance is so amazing that you
may actually find yourself forgetting that it’s cold. Between
the adrenaline response and your thermal aerobic output,
the cold fades away with the overwhelming engagement
of the technical excellence you can execute run after run,

If you are a front-side carving ski fanatic, this is where you thrive
in the unique attributes of both figurative and literal, very cool skiing.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades And Un-Groomed:

A last minute bonus for the Holiday guests who suddenly
find themselves with TONS of newly opened terrain, just
in the Saint Nick of time. The whole Edge sector opening
will have fresh lines for discovery for several days, there’s
even open Sous Bios in the Soleil sector.

The advantages include, but are not limited to, the “Freeze Dry”
effect over all the open Sous Bois/Bush. Only Mother Nature
can cook the entire Mountain with cold like this and the snow
tends to be very light and dry with a slightly granular cushion
feel underfoot.

If you are a Bush-Whacking Sous Bois ski fanatic, this is where
you thrive in the unique attributes of both figurative and literal,
very cool skiing.

How To/One Way... To Effectively “Cheat” At Dressing For Cold.

You do not need to go out and buy an Arctic Threat Level 10 Parka.

You can get quite nearly the same net effect by just buying
an inexpensive wind-break shell that is a size too large and
wear that over your best existing warm jacket. The extra
layer of a larger wind barrier membrane over the jacket
you already own will yield 98 % of the Parka performance
with as little as 5% of the cost.

We just purchased a “Spyder” brand wind shell in X-L,
regular $200, for $35 on their Black Friday Clearance Sale
with “Free Fed-EX Shipping” right to the chalet front door,
for exactly this purpose. That added layer alone will make
a jacket that’s comfortable down to about -13/14C, good
to at least -20C, and it can be rolled up and stored in its own
pocket for any future deployment.

Archival Copy Of Official Daily Message:

Bonjour Tremblant! Today, we plan to open 66 trails
across our 4 sectors. With the snow layer received
yesterday, the conditions are excellent! The forecasted
temperatures will be a bit colder today, so keep in mind
that some areas will be undergoing snowmaking.

With the return of colder weather, snowmaking will
resume in several areas of the mountain. We are
optimistic with our plan and hope to open several
new slopes soon!
