Shred This:
Long telephoto’s in a snow squall are not ideal,
but the traction so totally visible is.
You get this performance all day at Tremblant right now.
1.3.25.Sud.South.Johannsen.Board.Traction.Action.d.jpg
The scene above was a very long telephoto from the Resort Base
beside the Gondola, up to about the halfway mark of Johannsen,
in the middle of a burst of snowfall, so the definition and contrast
are not ideal, however, we think it’s perfectly clear to see the high
level of lateral edge grip performance here. This is roughly 95.378%
of the typical traction in all the freshly groomed at Tremblant right now.
Furthermore, it’s going to become incrementally more refined every
day because repeated grooming over a base that has had half a metre
of new snow in the last 4 days is an early season game changer for
the very positive upside.
For sure, it’s KKkkkool outside, but the performance is extraordinary
and worth every and all efforts to layer-up and head out.
Weather Notes:
RRrrreally KKkkkool... Technically, it’s a legitimate frostbite zone.
Be especially careful with little kids. We caught a frostbitten nose
on a 6 year old who was completely unaware of the visible white
blotch. If you see someone with white skin blotches, politely
ask “Are you aware of the frostbite you’re showing? Just as
politely, urge them to go indoors, immediately.

The original track models for this eastbound system had
the flow path directly over Tremblant. Evidently, that has
changed, but we can’t rule out the possibility of a beneficial
northerly deflection in the ultimate passage.

Conditions Notes:
In The Groomed:
Extraordinarily fine across all freshly groomed surfaces
as this is the second overnight-shift since the last big
natural snowfall instalment, so compaction is now
very close to ideal and, because its been so long since
there was any warm, icy bits are minimal. If you
have sharp fresh edges, your performance capability
will be somewhere between “Wow” and “Amazing”.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
Fun, Fun, Fun, for Experts in early season bushwhacking.
There are 60/70 and more cm’s drift lines in some Nord/North
and Edge sectors due to wind shaping that took place during
the big snowfalls of the past week.
You still need to be careful, it’s not the middle of February,
so while there are some impressive new depths, there are
still also the irregular shapes of rock and wood that can be
occasionally found lurking under the surfaces, so you do
need to be completely focused with low speed situational
awareness. Stops, pivots, hops, jumps, and any other manner
of course corrections may be instantly needed to avoid hazard
and the only way to ensure safety is by exploring slowly.
Archival Copy Of Official Daily Message:
Bonjour Tremblant! There is a light blanket of fresh snow
covering our mountain this morning, 48 cm fell in the last
7 days and we have over 594 acres of available terrain!
It is going to be a great day on the slopes so take an extra
day off and come enjoy skiing at its best! Please also note
that due to the ongoing snow making, snow conditions
are variable and visibility is affected in some areas of the
mountain. Therefore, exercise extra caution on the slopes.
Have a great day, and we look forward to seeing you at the summit.
