1/2/15 #Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

T360 Apres Ski Edit, Under Construction @ 6:50 P.M.

We Were Wrong....

The Integration Process we refer to in the Text below has accelerated
far quicker than we would have anticipated and almost everything
we Skied today was ahead of the time-line we might normally expect.

We think part of the Answer lies in the Efficiency of Mountain Crews
and we think part of it lies with Mother Nature.

The part that Mother Nature played we think, is Cryogenics.

Our Theory is:

Basically, the cold formed Snow that fell has been Freeze-dried,
much like the manufacture of instant coffee.

It’s the only thing we can think of that could render out such a fundamental
difference to so large an expanse in so short a time. When Mother Nature
decides to give Tremblant a big Winter hug... she does it all at once.

The net effect is a Super-Smooth, Ultra Fine, Very Dry, Crystalline Snow
with ever-so-slight Drag Resistance when bases run flat, but as soon
as you put your Skis on Carving Edge... You Get ZAPPED Into Warp Drive!

Above: This View of McCulloch from the TGV offers exactly what you need to see
about the current Tremblant Snow Surface performance of Today. We believe it
will be similar tomorrow(Saturday, Jan.3,2015). The Shred Qualities of the top
Layer are obvious and the resultant Grip through turns made, is one of Recreational
Athletics most intense sensations of sheer speed and gravity defying personal Skills.
Days like today are what make Enthusiastic Expert Skiers Passionate about their Sport.
Getting it right on Green or Blue Terrain today is what keeps Sincere Beginners and
Intermediates coming back, over and over.

It’s not as if we have the whole Mountain Open either. It is because what is Open
has such sweet nuggets of excellence that it is simply a Joy to discover them
within the context that there is still almost all of the Mature Season with even
more of this in store for the next 3.5 Months or so.

From Summit To Base, Just about all the Open, Groomed Terrain is like this:

There’s at least some probability that Expo may be Open for the Weekend.

Integration: For purposes of Tremblant Winter Alpine Snow Sport Terrain,
we are defining Integration as: The Combination of Variable Sources(Blown
and/or Natural) Snow Surfaces through Packing and Grooming Processes
into a Blended Top Layer Surface Open to the public for use and performance
of Winter Alpine Snow Sports.

Considering that the efficient deployment of Grooming Machine and Crew can cover
approximately 4 Acres per Hour, that there are Multiple Grooming Machines
and roughly 373 Currently Open Acres, we estimate that it may take up to
3 days or so to fully Integrate the New Snow(not withstanding any forecasted
Weather Anomalies that are still too early to predict Outcomes from when
temp’s are so close to Zero and could be all Snow at Mountain Elevations???).

There is a high probability that Mountain Crews may focus on Green and Blue,
Beginner and Intermediate Terrain initially, but there will be a full array of
all Skill Level Groomed from this morning onward.

We have placed a “Please Note” reference on the herein Archived
Mountain Trail Data regarding Grooming Icons because there was
a distinct difference in the performance characteristics of the fresh Snow
as it fell on the South(including Soleil) and North(including Edge). For
Beginners and Intermediates
we feel that Over-Night Grooming will have
rendered out those differences(subject to Field Testing Confirmation Apres Ski)
and "Best Results” may be experienced where Grooming Icons Indicate
Surface Processing.

The bottom feature is an “L” -“G” Kicker and there’s a steady stream of
very well done trix that riders on the Lowell Thomas Triple Chair get to see
on the way up.

The New Snow in this whole general upper North Side sector has very
good edge set and traction for precise setups and we expect to see lots
of talent on this line today.

Below: Over on Soleil, in case you missed yesterday’s Apres Ski, Toboggan was
tagged as “Best Of Season So Far” and with more Open in that Sector today,
you should find more to like!

Weather Notes:

Super Sunny, Daytime High at -11C with Moderate Westerly Winds
moving across the Summit from McCulloch towards Duncan/Lowell Thomas.

The Combination of Winds, Sun and Geography will allow Trail-Side Warm-ups
where shelter can be found and the Photography should be Spectacular.

There May Be Daytime Snowmaking... and Caution with Speed is required if so.
Vision can change in an instant with nothing more that a puff of wind you can’t
see coming, so BE CAREFUL around Snowmaking zones.

TOMORROW... should be almost a repeat of todays “Great", but Sunday...
that’s another story as two converging Mega-Systems are forecasted to collide
right on top of us.

A “Texas Low” and a "Prairie Clipper” are set to smack into each other and
may cause “Trouble” from Chicago to Halifax and from James Bay to West Virginia.
That’s a big one...

There’s a bunch of New Snow!

Mountain Stat’s say 12 CM’s but we can tell ya for a Fact
that the accumulations across the range of Open Terrain
are Greater in some areas due to Blowing and Drifting Factors...

(Sample Attached Below)

This view Includes “Andy Moe” immediate front, then looks across Beauchemin,
(which is difficult to distinguish because the Trees on Andy Moe obscure the wide
expanse of Beauchemin), and includes in the far reach, “Axle”, which traverses one
of the North Sector Summit Level Topographical Ridges to end at Lowell Thomas.

As of this writing, “Andy Moe" is Closed, Axle is Open and can be accessed via
Beauchemin Haut. Andy Moe was Open earlier in the season and it’s re-opening
certainly gets closer with more snow, evidently some “Testing” by unknown
users has taken place.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
