T360 Late Eve. Apres Ski Edit @ 10:35 P.M.
A Purely White Winter Day Of Impressive Scenic Beauty
And Extremely Fine, Fast, and Fun Skiing/Board Conditions.
These are the kinds of days that for almost 8 decades, have generated
the enthusiasm and loyalty of Tremblant fans around the world.
Much of the beauty of the day was in the ever-changing dynamic
of the Sky. Mother Nature chose to fill the sky with very fast moving
cloud across a deep blue background and it was literally different
by the minute.
Most of yesterday’s New Snowfall thickness in the Groomed Terrain
was rendered Smooth Cruising for today. There were far less in
the way of Moguls, no doubt partly due to far lower traffic numbers.
We found the Surface Performance quite even over the
Groomed Terrain we covered today. There were few
glitches and the traction was universally responsive
with good speed and glide. There were gusty moments,
but there was also perceptible Solar Energy where you
could stop in wind-sheltered sunny spots. A Cool, but
not unpleasant, White Winter Day.
For Tomorrow... It’s supposed to start Snowing just past
mid-night and go until about 10:00A.M. when the cloud
is forecast to give way to Sun. That should go from noon
until sunset, with a daytime high temp at around -7C and
moderate Westerly Winds coming up the Mountain over
the Soleil Sector. Another Night-Shift of Grooming should
elevate overall performance another notch upward.

96/96(*) Open Trails On The 100% Open Slopes Of #Tremblant .
Yesterday We Spoke About “Contour Drifting”,
and here’s a good example from the Afternoon.
This Is Just One Of The Reasons Tremblant Is 100% Open This Morning.
2.4.18 Last Run, Versant Nord, North Side,
Lowell Thomas Sector “Proof Of Drifting Snow”.
This is an approximately 200cm’s deep Drift Line around
some sort of Tree or other object we did not dig out, but
never-the-less, has caused a great amount of Snow to
accumulate. Scale this up to the size of a Mountain and
you may begin to understand what’s going on at Tremblant
for the benefit of the Groomed, not to mention what’s going
on in the Sous Bois, Hors Piste, Glade and Un-Groomed!
We think any experienced Winter Alpine Snow Sports Person
Will understand the significance of the above photo. No, it’s
not like this everywhere, but it definitely is within the Range
of occurrence. The fact that it exists at all is sufficient to be
noteworthy, as well as to be included in the conversation about
how Mother Nature can sometimes bless individual topographical
contours of the Mountain with much more than the statistical
total shows.
The Accumulated Drifting is now also more noticeably “Bridging”
over and between contours, so the “Fill-In” is being enhanced by
contour drift connections that make some of these deposits
dimensionally much greater.
This Is One Of The Reasons The Joy Of Responsible Exploration
At Tremblant Is So Much Fun!
The Performance is Great across the entire Open, Groomed
Array, with the proviso that you are well within the Skill Rating
that matches your realistic ability.
The Edge-Set, Lateral Turning Grip is increasing with overall consistency
every single morning as overnight Grooming Cycles catch up with the
integration of New Snow into the packed base. Softness that can be found
anywhere the accumulations are greater than average, gets packed to
greater density with repeated daily passages of 12,500 Lbs. grooming
machines, so we should see steady increases in the scope of Mogul
resistant terrain each new morning.
Expert Tremblant Fans have to be happy that all this great new Snow
is taking more time than usual on the Groomed to compress because
there’s just so much of it!
Weather Notes:
Considering all the recent Weather News about the return of the
Polar Vortex to this side of the Hemisphere, we think the 14 Day
Long Range Forecast here looks really easy for any Ski Resort.
What we like most is the proximity to ZeroC, without going over it.
Big, Big, Benefits for Consistently Refined, Thermal Free, Surface Conditions.
Conditions Notes:
If there was one thing a bit unusual about the New Snow,
besides how heavily it fell and thickly accumulated, it was
how small the Snow Particles/Flakes were. Recent Snow
prior to this event have primarily been of the Big Fat Flake type,
obvious 6-sided huge flakes you can see the shapes of with
naked eyes, but not this one. Here is a Two-Step Zoom
showing snow particles falling on black upturned Ski Bases
for contrast.
Please Note the Ski Brake Metal Arms are roughly 5mm, 3/16 inch.
in diameter, so when comparing the snow particle size, quite simple
to see how small they are. The total time for what you see fallen here
was about a minute and a half.

On Packed, Groomed Surfaces this Snow Skis quite fast on it’s own, but
in the thickly, rapidly accumulating quantities it was coming in, it was just
the great piles of it in Tracked-up, Traffic generated Lumps and Bumps that
was causing difficulty. Once it’s all Groomed in, it should be all of “Fantastic”!
Otherwise... Even Though Yesterday Was A Busy Day...
There were still Powder Shots of the New Snow at "Last Run”!
So, With Today’s Light Weekday Traffic, It Should Be Amazing!
