T360 Mid-Evening Apres Ski, Under Progressive Construct @ 8:33 P.M.

The Very First Blue Sky Day Since November 22, 2018.

Arguably Worth The Wait... because either a little or a lot, it’s snowed
every day since then too.

The Skiing is what we would call “Technical”, in the sense that the base
is very firm and has some icy bits, all of which require smoothness and
finesse to execute control inputs for braking, steering, and speed regulation.
If your motions were jerky or sudden, sideways skids or loss of edge was
a probable result. If your motions were applied with smooth engagement
and gradually increased pressure, you could find fine carving grip on moderate
slopes.

If you have good edges, it’s easy.

If you have dull edges, it’s “Exciting”...

There is still great speed in the surfaces, although todays very cool, crisp
snow definitely has a bit more friction than the fastest of recent days, but
we think that’s largely do to the rapid plunge in the temps.

Speaking of “Temp’s”... it was cool, for sure. Especially with a bit of
breeze, the cool could find its way through any gap in your exterior
garment envelop, so overlaps and seals were key to keeping the
chills on the outside and your heat on the inside.

Newly Opened Terrain Samples:

We’re guessing a bit, but we think this is the first time in about 10 Years
that there has not been a fence across the “Rope Tow” entrance. The
old fence that controlled the entrance to the Rope Tow Terrain Park
is no longer needed because the Park has been re-located to Sissy Schuss.

The second new open terrain we want to mention is a critical
addition for all Skill Level logistics, Versant Sud, South Side
Nansen Bas, Lower.

The opening surfaces on Nansen Bas, Lower were a mix of fine to course
particles and a few chunky bits. Totally normal for any opening, and... really,
really good, considering the temp drops the night before when there
was still snowmaking that required grooming.

Relative to other Nansen Bas opening history, the
“Star Of The Show” is no doubt... “Wall-To-Wall”,
total finished width on day 1,
that alone is excellent.

All it needs now is some “Break-In”, that means YOU, plus,
a couple of Night-Shift Grooming cycles. Nansen Bas is good
to begin with, and should seem better, literally, every day.

Nord, North Side Terrain Development News:

One trail we’d like to add to the samples is not “Open”, but...
it certainly is “Ready To Go"...

Versant Nord, the North Side, La Griffe.

It was Nord, North “Last Run”, so the sun is very low and we had to
cook the contrast, exposure and highlights, but we hope it’s clear to
see that La Griffe is going to be great for its First Tracks, whenever that occurs.

If time permits, we’ll have more on the new terrain later on,
otherwise we will cover more detail in the morning. In the
mean-time, look at the “Open Trail Lists” in the Orig. Post below.

31(*) Open Trails on Sud, South, Nord, North, Summit-To-Base Sectors at #Tremblant .

--------------- 9:26 A.M. Update -------------------

35(*)REVISED Open Trails. Archive Data to follow below.

-------------------------------------------------------

From 16 to 31 Open Trails Overnight!

and...

In Our Estimate, This Pic. Represents About 84.276%(**)
Of The Groomed, Open Terrain At Tremblant.

Super smooth, beautifully groomed, easy control, reliably consistent,
and Fast!

(**) Just kidding, there’s no way to calculate the exact percentage, but...
what’s important is the overwhelming majority of very fine groomed
surfaces, say 85%, that are excellent. Naturally occurring slick or icy bits
are being reported/observed on steeper pitches and over crests that might,
maybe, could possibly be, about 15% of total, open, square surface area.
The hazard areas are dynamic in the sense that for example, the steepest
parts of Taschereau, when groomed, start off with an excellent wall-to-wall
loose, carve-able, top layer. As traffic flow occurs, or wind pressure focuses,
the loose layer can be displaced in some areas over time, exposing the firm
base that can have an icy tendency.

Our “Pet Peeve”, an unfair and re-occurring thing, is very obvious Intermediates
complaining about an Expert Trail. If you stand in the middle of the Taschereau
descent for 5 minutes, you will see exactly what we mean. Genuine “Experts”
will pass by exhibiting visible control, unqualified Intermediates will be
passing by exhibiting visible lack of control. Typically, later on at the Bar in
Le Shack, the loudest complaints will come from the least qualified individuals.

Bottom Line(s) On This Point:

It’s still “Fall” and we’re incredibly fortunate to have so much “Winter”
in the conditions when historically/actually, there are always temperature
swings or windy days that can generate hazards. If you realistically match
your Skill Level with the Rated Terrain selection, you will have a fantastic day. Period.

Big, Big, News We Wait For Every Season...

Nansen Bas, Lower on “Progressive Opening”!!!

This notice can be seen on the archived downloadable PDF
Trail Data below as a small clock icon beside Nansen Bas on
the list. The exact time of Opening is not specified, but mid
to late morning is not unusual for “Progressive” status.

This is excellent news. Nansen Bas, Lower, is a critically important descent
path at Tremblant and the day it Opens is very good news for all Tremblant
Guests, but particularly for Beginners and Intermediates who will now have
a gentle, very easy way to get to the Resort Base. As an addition and
accessory to Nansen Bas, the Flying Mile Quad is also shown as Open.

In other sector news... The Expo Quad Base is at “Ready” status.
There were “Tomorrow” signs on the Up-load lines at Last Run
yesterday, but it looks like that could now be Tomorrow, as in Saturday,
unless Mountain Crews decide to bring it on line later today.

24Hour Children’s Charity Marathon Fundraiser Course News.

All the major pieces are in place to finalize the Marathon Course.

Final assembly of the Charity Marathon Course occurs when the
currently open portions, most notably around the TGV Quad Base,
get roped off for the event start, tomorrow at noon. As far as we
know, Tremblant Guests have full access to surrounding non-course
terrain all day today.

Weather Notes:

Cool, and getting “Cooler”.
Lets look on the bright side... it’s actually Sunny on the Summit
and Nord, North Sectors... so far.

Conditions Notes:

More overnight snow and dropping temps should hold conditions
much the way they were yesterday. The Groomed Open trails start,
and for the most part hold, very fine, shreddable, consistent top
layers of loose crystalline snow that is easy to use control moves
on.

The base is very firm and mostly high density compressed snow,
but there are some icy bits on steeper pitches, just below crests
where a lot of people turn in the same spots, and in some high
traffic consentration zones.

It’s possible that the Open Trail List could change today, up or down.
As the Ski Patrol assesses conditions and ongoing trail development,
the Open list can see changes either way, and sometimes, the total
may remain the same, but by the end of the day, the list may have
different trail names/#’s “Open” or “Closed”. Always obey posted
trail signage and roped-off access.

all have Radio-Controlled, real-time updates.

Page Under All-Day Progressive Assembly, More At Apres Ski.
We hope to have an early Apres Ski edit by about 8:00 P.M.
for weekend planners.

There’s a whole lot of “Winter” when it’s
still actually “Fall”, so that makes it a unique
opportunity to enjoy very fine early season
conditions at Tremblant.

We hope you’re on the way soon!
