We are Very Happy To Be WRONG!!!

Surprise!!!

Bravo, Tremblant Mountain Op’s !!!

This is absolutely fantastic news for all Tremblant Fans
who are either here already, or planning a Pre-Christmas
Ski/Board visit.

It’s actually a bit difficult to imagine the possibilities for
near term trail openings because there are so many, its
hard to choose where Crews may focus their attention next.

Of course, the immediate answer is that the “Snowmaking” icons
on the Official Trail List below are the likely targets and in that
way, there’s a whole new “Wow” list that could see some impressive
additions very soon.

Here is one great example of Tremblant Mountain Op’s
Current Trail Development Program:

Serious Snowmaking on:
McCulloch, Versant Sud, South Side, Summit Sector, Official Trail # 18.

But Wait, There’s MORE!!!

If you scroll back up to the Tremblant panoramic at the top of
this Original Post, you can not only see our McCulloch sample,
but adjacent to that on both sides is more snowmaking on,
(to the right side), Trail # 22, Kandahar, and(to the left side),
Trails # 13, Vertige and Trail # 14, Zig-Zag.

These Are Only A Few Examples Of The Potential
For Near-Term Terrain Openings.

Weather Notes:

As cool as it is this morning, obviously the next few days
are going to be a lot warmer and more “User Friendly”
in BOTH temperature, and vision. Today is only the 4th
actual, real, Sunny day since the Season opened on Nov.22.
The predominant overcast has been beneficial due to the
natural snowfall, but vision has been less than ideal, so we’re
glad to see(literally?) a nice block of sunny days coming up.

We do not think there will be any significant effect from the warm
in the forecast because cooler Mountain Elevations should remain
just below Zero C throughout, and the overnights up on the Mountain
are going to be solidly below Zero C, so they should be the major
24hr. stabilizing influence.

Conditions Notes:

Newly opened trails that have Snowmaking as a component
can(but definitely not always) have initial conditions including
particle sizes that range from very fine, as in small, to very course,
as in large. They can also have solid or icy bits in the descent path
that require extra care and speed control. All initial descents on newly
opened terrain should be undertaken with deliberately slower speeds
to verify safe passage, especially over crests and steeper pitches where
line-of-sight navigation is critical to avoid hazards.

For Best Results, Match realistic, actual Skill Level to Terrain Rating.

The good news is:

These opening conditions respond immediately to Ski/Board traffic
that is immensely helpful in rendering small particles, as well
as the first and second nights of Grooming, so it is usual to see
very rapid, positive, surface evolution within a single day. In a way,
this is a very short “Break-In” phase that is completely normal,
when it happens.

-------------- 10:30 A.M. Update ---------------------

T360 Fan Submitted Pic’s/reporting.

Devils River, Up/Down from mid point.

Devils River has been opened in a very smooth mode, however
it is being reported by a legitimate Expert as an example of some
very “Firm” base, and “Larger” chunky particles, so surfaces are
not yet broken in. That will happen very quickly. With todays traffic
and tonights grooming, this should feel like a much different trail
by tomorrow.

This is a totally normal example of exactly what we referred to in our
“Conditions Notes”.

------------- 11:35 A.M. Update ----------------------

Versant Nord, North Side Trail # 93, Superieur.

The surfaces on Superieur are being reported as “Very Fine”,
as in high quality and “Very Carve-able”. Crews may have had
extra time for grooming here, or, it could just be something
Mother Nature had in the mix when the finishing was done
here, but in any event, it is an example of closer to ideal
for initial conditions.

As usual... Page under Progressive Assembly, however...
this is a highly dynamic time of year when weather or
Open Trail status can change quite quickly. We try to
add relevant material as it becomes available, not only
today, but on any date.

A Major Expansion Of Open Trails Is The
Equivalent Of “Weeks Ahead Of Schedule”
Compared To Average Historic Stats For This Date.

No Serious Or Dedicated Regional Ski/Board
Enthusiast Should Be Missing Tremblant Right Now.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
