12/13/19 #Tremblant Conditions

T360 Apres Ski Edit, Posted Below @ 7:59 P.M. As “Reply”.

We look at the huge snowmaking commitment on Versant Soleil
with a particular focus on Trail # 95, Algonquin.

Additionally, there is very good indication that Versant Nord.North Side
Duncan Sector may Open tomorrow. There’s a pic. of the rough-cut
first stage of Duncan grooming in the orig. post below.

We think it is fair to acknowledge the weather may be a factor
in any new openings, however we do not think the actual Skiing
would suffer. It is possible the Skiing may be exceptionally fine
if it achieves real softness. We had thought softness would be there
to a larger degree today, but we were wrong and Mountain Elevations
remained quite firm, virtually all day.

Local feedback supports favourable conditions on Versant Nord,
the North Side, with a special appreciation for trail #94, La Griffe.

Otherwise, if you have fresh, sharp edges, anything within your
well matched actual Skill Level would have been relatively easy
with the wall-to-wall smoothness across Greens, Blues, and Blacks.

At The End Of The Day...

It’s A Win, Win, Win!

Weather Notes:

Today is a near-ideal, super Temp-easy, early winter day.

Tomorrow is a Wild Card day, with Sud, South Resort Base level
rain indicated, however... Don’t everyone freak out just yet please...

The possibility exists that at the current daytime high forecast @ +4C,
up on the Mountain’s cooler elevations, it could be either partially
snow, or all snow, especially if the precipitation is generated in a
higher atmospheric strata above the Mountain that could be even
cooler yet again.

Conditions Notes:

It is our perpetual theory that conditions always seem to improve
as temperatures rise(**). Today may be a potentially classic example,
especially because of the softness that could be generated in the
proximity to Zero C at the mid-day high temp hour.

Despite the potentially extended warmth and precipitation NOT being
positive for tomorrow, todays upward temp trend may create a one-day
unique window of excellent performance opportunity.

We commented more than once earlier in the week that the new snow
that fell was a slightly higher than normal friction level(#), however, yesterday
experienced noticeably faster running surfaces on all trails. So, we think
there’s a very good possibility that trend may continue in the rising temps,
and the speed may be fully restored as the day progresses if it isn’t already
there at First Tracks.

If that all becomes true, then what you could have today is a convergence
of the spectacular lateral grip/traction that comes with softer, warming
surfaces, together with really fast inherent speed characteristics. It is
this synergistic combination that we’re hopefully confident should be
found over Tremblant’s entire footprint today.

(**) Conditions often improve with falling temperatures too, however
due to the applicable Laws of Physics when crossing to below freezing
from “+” values, there are many cases where they do not.

(#)It is important to note that the Speed/Friction ratio is never a bad
thing. Additional natural friction always benefits control parameters
on steeper descent lines. If it’s noticeable at all, it’s usually felt on
shallow pitches, plateau’s or run-outs as a bit less glide, and it can
always be offset with a skating step or two with Skis, or by pumping
the Board on the run-out, to compensate. Never-the-less, when there
is fast or extended glide, it most often enhances a desirable feeling of
ease of effort and speed.

The Basis For Today's “Great” Will Be Yesterday's Apres Ski Night-Shift.

We ran another version of this Summit Grooming shot at
Apres Ski last night and we’re using this one as a reminder
that not only does the Night-Shift start promptly after Last
Run, but yesterday afternoon, we were still finding untracked
Corduroy trail surfaces up to Last Run. You know the traffic
is light when you can find Corduroy all day long.

New Open Terrain Development News.

A) Duncan Sector:

Strong possibilities Open Tomorrow?

If we see finishing touches here today, that’s a big positive.

B) We are working on a feature for the massive increase
in snowmaking capabilities of Soleil Sector for tonight
as Tremblant.ca has indicated that Soleil Sector may
Open for tomorrow.

Here’s an intro. POV, and as shown by the dotted red box and
arrow direction, we’ll be zooming in to beyond the right side
of this POV for a more detailed look at the visible action over there.

Look for more on that at Apres Ski. We hope to have an early Apres Ski
up before 8:00 P.M. if time permits, and we’ll also include a closer look
at how the weather is shaping up for tomorrow as well.

(Please note: There is glitch in the Open Lift listings. We will
attempt to add a corrected version if/when available, however
specified Hours Open beside specified lifts, regardless of the
red “Closed”/ “x”, do indicate that lift is in service.)

Give yourself a little “Pre-Christmas” Gift and go Skiing/Boarding
at Tremblant if you can. There’s a great combination of Open Trails
and the performance has been consistently high across the entire array.
The week-days are quiet and for Experts, 20,000ft. vertical days are easy,
if you have the muscle!

want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

The purpose of including this Soleil Sector record of snowmaking
and Sector Opening is to essentially time-stamp the implementation
of the Brand New, Upgraded, Snowmaking System infrastructure
directly applicable to Soleil Sector. The previous snowmaking in
this Sector was a very old technology that required -17 C, just to start.
Obviously this very low start-up temp. seriously restricted the Sector’s
snowmaking opportunities, especially compared to the latest Snowmaking
that can be done, just below, very close to, Zero C.

The installation of this new system in the Fall of 2019 should
provide substantially earlier and higher quality opening standards
for the Soleil Sector and particularly with a focus on Trail # 95,
“Algonquin”.

We have enthusiastically endorsed Algonquin as one of the finest
Green Trails in Eastern North America. It is constructed to Highway-like
spec’s of slope, width, and drainage. It is a superbly engineered Alpine
Ski/Board trail and in our opinion, it has been underrated and unappreciated
for its simple brilliance. The installation of permanently plumbed, high
volume snowmaking will allow it to be featured for its true value.

Please See Our Description Of This Fine Trail
in our “Tremblant Geographic” Trail Pic.File Catalogue.

All The following POV’s are from the exact same Old Village
of Mont Tremblant Hillside. Basically, they are 180 degrees off in the
far distance in the above Soleil 12.13.19 Sunset Photo.

We have used red outlined/white box to identify Trail Names
visible in overlapping Zoom-in’s.

The Schedule is for Opening of Soleil Sector for 12.14.19
and it is our hope that the evolving weather is not a significant
hindrance.

If there’s any possibilities for Saturday weather hope, it is that the
lightest forecast precipitation is during Open Hours. The “Light” icons
in the hourly forecast mean that it is possible there could be extensive
periods of dryness, particularly if it is a low ceiling, or if active bands
bypass the Mountains elevations altogether. This forecast would not
stop us at all, however experience shows that rain forecast icons of any
size may reduce attendance to variable degrees so it’s possible Saturday
could be a light traffic day.
