12/14/19 #Tremblant Conditions

T360 Apres Ski Mid-Evening Edit, Under Construction @ 9:10 P.M.

A Focus on what we think is one of the single largest
square areas of terrain opening undertaken at Tremblant.

The Opening Of Versant Soleil, Trail # 95, Algonquin.

This represents a high point for a decade of Algonquin’s
existence. It now has the snowmaking logistical support
appropriate to compliment the simple, magnificent,
brilliance of the trails original design.

Bravo Tremblant Mountain Op’s, Excellent Efforts!!!

From Beginners To Experts And All In-Between,

If you did not have fun on the superb smooth, wide, fast,
rhythmically rolling topography of Algonquin today, you
would be suffering from a clinical diagnosis of being...

“Nuts”.

Period.

More on Algonquin’s Opening in the morning.

Otherwise... Not many pic’s, foggy again. It was wet on the slopes this
morning, but before noon, it stopped and from that point on, we did not
see, feel, or hear about a single drop of rain. It was sort of misty, in the
sense that skiing in fog is misty, but it was warm @ +2C at the summit,
so it was already comfortable and the misty part was not an issue for
us at all with yellow lenses to restore contrast.

Everything groomed was Super-Shred-Spring in our experience and
for Front-Side Carvers, there was no such thing as a bad choice.
It was simply a wonderful, fly under the radar day with very light
traffic and never once anything less than Ski-Right-On lift service.

If You’re wondering about the Newly Opened Duncan???

Perhaps this will provide some helpful insight...

Proof Of Shred.

For Tomorrow... It’s raining lightly here in the adjacent Old Mt.T. Village,
but it’s supposed to start snowing around 11:00 P.M. and carry on snowing
through the night. We have no idea what it will amount to, but with temps
dropping back to Sub-Zero’s, any new snow will help the icy bits that Mother
Nature is going to cook up tonight.

Any grooming done after the re-freeze will provide good initial surfaces
in the morning, especially if it snows afterwards. The durability of morning
surface quality will be somewhat dependant on traffic, but we think it should
all be fairly mogul resistant as it firmly resets. Minus 7 to 9 C under overcast
will seem chilly after today, and the wind is forecast to be strong Westerly,
so it is a “Bundle Up” advisory for optimized comfort.

Hope to see you out there...

43(*) Open Trails on Versant Sud/South, Nord/North, and Soleil Sectors at #Tremblant .

Today Is A “Boy Scout Day”... “Be Prepared”!!!

Big Positive Sector/New Terrain Opening News:

1) Soleil Sector OPEN.
2) Duncan OPEN.

As you will see below, there are a lot of “If’s” in the range of
possibilities for today. All we know for sure is that we start
with the very basic default of the groomed terrain being very
reliably smooth.

The likelihood is that it is going to be predominantly Spring-Like
because of the expected weather. Setting aside atmospheric
precipitation in whatever form or volume that occurs, the technical
Skiing is likely to be excellent as soft spring-like surfaces always are.
If all those things are true, all you need to do is employ modalities
of adaptation to stay dry and have functional vision. It has the potential
to be what we would refer to as a standard Descente Poncho and Yellow
Lens Safety Glass day. We could be wrong, weather permitting.

Below is a sample of the Local’s yesterday feedback for the days
“Best Of” zones of Open Terrain, in this case, the entire Versant
Nord/North Side sector, with a special mention for the fine condition
of Trail # 94, La Griffe.

Generally speaking, the user feedback we’re getting is that the
Nord/North side is holding more consistent and daily durable
average conditions due to the fact that it has received more
naturally drifted-in snowfall accumulations that have been exposed
to less frontally facing winds. At this stage that gives it an upward
edge in co-factors from an overall perspective, but it should be
noted that there are very fine surfaces in all sectors on a case by
case basis. Furthermore, every new day can see changes, so it’s
still a good idea to explore as much as you can to discover what
and where the conditions suit your skills and preferences.

The above shot is of McCulloch from late yesterday afternoon,
just after the Race Course Gates were removed. If it softens up
today it should be Screaming Fast Fun due to the meticulous
smoothness that it was groomed to for the Race Event.

Weather Notes:

“Weather Permitting” is a phrase often used to grant “Permissions”
for many outdoor pursuits and it should be noted that this phrase
does not mean “Restrictions” if individual preparation can
accommodate “Permitting”.

That’s just a fancy way of saying "Have your Descente Poncho ready
and go anyway."

Because They Are There:
Environment Canada Weather Warnings.

Please Note the use of the word “Expected”. The nature of any
“Forecast” is “Expected”. As we all know, “Expected” is not "For Sure".
If “Expected” was always “For Sure”, the the Weather “Forecast”
would NEVER be “Wrong”. Thankfully, and with all due respect,
Weather “Forecasts” are frequently “Wrong”, and that is what gives
us hope that todays actual weather may turn out to have less,
or different precipitation, over the cooler elevations of the Mountains
Alpine Trail Network.

Conditions Notes:

Due to temperature and precipitation variables associated with
proximity to Zero C at Sud/South Resort Base and cooler elevation
differentials over Mountain heights, there are a big bunch of “Wild Cards”
that may produce dramatically different outcomes.

Consequently...

Be Ready...???

Be Prepared!!!

For obvious reasons, the most important part of today’s
reporting is going to be the Apres Ski updates. In the
mean-time, all we can do is have faith and go forth.
We are just as confident today(as we have previously
been on any other day with similar weather anomalies),
that our “80/20” rule, where 80% of the time, the conditions
up on the Mountain are substantially different/better, than
Base levels, happens again, for today.

If you are a serious Skier, don’t let the weather stop you,
today or ever. Days like today can actually be some of the
most fun you will ever have on a Ski slope because of the
fabulous performance that “Spring” soft snow surfaces have.
All you need to do is be prepared...

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
