T360 Apres Ski Edit @ 6:26 P.M.
We think that in the annals of Tremblant daily Ski Season
history, this might be one of a handful of days in this season
that Mountain Op’s may cheerfully watch disappear. As you
scroll down and look at 3 separate reducing Open Trail Lists,
you’ll get a good idea of todays weather drama. It started early
this morning with the Wind-Force closure of Versant Sud/South
and Soleil sectors. As you can see from the Tremblant.ca
Screenshot excerpt below(screen-right), the notice of those
closures was still Officially posted at Last Run.

Going from 76 to 71, and finally to 56 open trails due
to, and under the added pressure of excessive wind that
caused the loss of use of Sud/South lifts, is an extremely
rare consequence of Mother Natures very powerful hand.
It should be noted that at all times, Tremblant Crews have
the safety of Guests as their number 1 priority and we
support their decisions on lift closures without question.
All that being said...
It’s big, big work now for Mountain Crews and we’d be willing
to bet it’s going to be an “All Nighter” Grooming shift.
The saving grace should be the big snow that’s on the way now.

In theory, for today...
Big Snow, Big Fun.
However, it may be a bit of an odd pathway to the big snow
due to a very high wind component that has delayed the Opening
of both Versant Sud and Soleil sector lifts early this morning.
Weather Notes:
For today... Big Snow!
Looking forward...
Despite the close proximity to Zero C, it appears as though
Tremblant slopes should remain just below that critical freezing
mark that is Mother Natures basic permission for snow.
From the comfort POV, at least it’s mild. From the precipitation
POV, the predominant form is Snow. At the typically cooler
by -4C, it is our opinion that the probabilities of all snow at
Mountain Elevations are increased.
Additional Weather Notes:
For all regional Ski/Board and Tremblant Fans:
Planning insight regional Ski/Board Fans can use
to evaluate near-term opportunities:
Conditions Notes:
Despite the weather challenges faced by both Mountain Op’s
and Guests, there will be fine Ski/Board quality within the
Open terrain because of Tremblant’s multi-directional,
4 compass-point trail network that always has a “Lee-Side”
of shelter somewhere. It may not be as large an area as
Guests have been used to over recent weeks and days, but
it will be there.
Due to the fact that these types of complex weather factors
generate “Unique” snow surface conditions, the sweet spots
will most likely be on what we refer to as a “Select” basis.
What that means is the necessity to explore very cautiously
and especially for Beginners and Intermediates, default to
easier terrain until you can confirm safe passage.
It is critically important to consult with Tremblant Info.Ski Crews
who can be identified with their bright Yellow and Red jackets
with the big “?” on their backs. They will be stationed at key points
at the Summit, Bases, and other variable mid-Mountain positions
as the circumstances of traffic, open lifts and terrain require.
They are the very best source of guidance for trails, lifts and
all other forms of Mountain utility when there are effects from
adverse weather.
