A very easy, very mild winter day with forecast Snowfall.
High temps(at Sud/South Resort Base), just breaking
Zero C by a degree, hopefully, remaining Sub-Zero C
at cooler Mountain elevations.

With 4 full days left in the Christmas/New Years School Holiday
period, there’s still plenty of time for family fun and great
learning, skills building time for Kidz of all ages!

At 93 Open Trails, the Mountain is getting closer and closer to fully open
with the steady accumulations of natural snow and that trend looks like
it’s going to continue on. With the forecast temp’s over the next 2 weeks
currently showing quite nicely at values that are very good for Mother
Natures own snowmaking potential, we think conditions are going to
escalate upwards at a consistent pace.

Weather Notes:

Certainly a very easy day for today, but for tomorrow, a bit of a
“Wild Card” day as Mother Nature has a potentially warm/wet burp.
It’s still too early to tell exactly how that will play out, however,
the most favourable co-factor at this time is the indicated drop
in the temps to Sub-Zero C at the almost the same hour as the
forecast icons show possible rainy bits. Consequently, we think
that at typically cooler by -4C Mountain elevations, there is a
reasonable probability that any precipitation over the Mountain
for Friday will be snow(#). A second favourable co-factor is that
this little thermal intrusion is short. Only a single day of a degree
or so is not likely to have any significant effects, especially if the
precip. over cooler Mountain Elevations is all snow.

Conditions Notes:

Today should see an increase in overall Groomed trail
surface compaction with a second overnight grooming
that will render a substantially higher top-layer density.
This should allow for a higher degree of Mogul-resistant
daily durability. As an additional result, there should be
a wider range of excellence where the combination of wind,
topographical contours and drifting allowed the Official 17cm’s
of fresh snow to be retained at the greatest depths.

While there will be fewer untracked lines left in the Sous Bois,
Glades, Hors Piste, Un-Groomed today, there should still be
a positive reduction in natural hazards as the ambient
snowpack in the bush has gotten deeper. With more snow
in the forecast, the entire array of Un-Groomed Open terrain
should see increased utility over the foreseeable future.

With the indicated Sou-West breezes at relatively low speeds,
there is some degree of wind-induced back-fill/orographic natural
snow accumulation potential in the Versant Nord, North Side
Lowell Thomas and Edge Sectors Sous Bois/Bush with this
near-term forecast.
