It Seems Oddly Appropriate That It’s Friday The 13th...

because unfortunately, The Weather Is The News.

Considering Surfaces and Atmospheric Conditions As Separate And Distinct,

There Will Be Great Skiing Within The Open Trail Array. Period.

There always is...

“Crazy”?, “Whacko”?, “Nuts”?, will all be either used or applied to the
handful of brave souls who go forth today to discover that there are
indeed, wind sheltered zones of really good skiing!

It is even possible that there could be gaps in the active weather, and
that periods of time go by that are relatively dry. True “Spring Skiing”
surfaces are always fun, the difference is the “Atmospheric” part and
there are numerous ways to deal with that.

Weather Notes:

We think that Tremblant’s more northerly latitude, plus Mountain elevation
increase the odds for a beneficial snowfall accumulation out of this system tonight.

Conditions Notes:

Conditions need to be separated into 2 distinct and separate definitions,
Surface, and Atmospheric.

Obviously, the challenge in enjoying any surface quality is directly
proportional to remaining personally warm and dry in a rather
hostile atmospheric environment.

In-so-far-as Surfaces, and the Groomed Category of Open Trails:

Clinically speaking, the technical quality of the surface characteristics
should be at “Very Fine” because of the inability of the windy-rainy to
penetrate the surfaces beyond a handful of cm’s. The frost below should
still be very capable of rendering a defensive barrier and the resulting
soft top layers are almost always fast and very carve-able.

It’s another one of those odd days where most normal people will
think those who even walk out the door are “Nuts”, but never-the-less,
if the Mountain is “Open” it’s a historical fact that there are technically
very good surface conditions.

If you are an Off-Shore Ocean Sailor... get out your “Foul Weather” Gil
system suit. Otherwise, the Descente Poncho is what you will see most
widely used by locals, Ski Instructors and Ski Patrol.

There is some probability that Mountain Operations could see
restrictions, reductions, or closures for safety or surface preservation
during the course of the day.

The positive outlook is for this afternoon when the most active weather
may pass off to the east, allowing for the potential of a considerable
dry period in the second half of the day.

The Sous Bois/Glades/Hors Piste/Un-Groomed are currently
restricted for safety and preservation. You can see that is noted
below in the Official PDF preamble.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
