12/5/20 #Tremblant Conditions

13(*) Open Trails on Summit-To-Base, Sud/South and Nord/North Sectors at #Tremblant.

More New Snow For The New Season.

Sunny? What Sunny?? So far, it’s totally overcast and snowing.

Just like every day since Opening, it’s been foggy, snowing, or overcast
for all but about 2 hours over the past 9 days. We’re getting cabin-fever
without any sunshine, but the saving grace is the excellent early season
skiing that has been nothing short of joyful since first tracks.

Most of the time, the Summit is the primary foggy zone and once you
begin to descend on either Sud/South or Nord/North, you get below
the cloud, at least to some degree.

Mountain Utility Note:

The alternate pathway to Versant Nord/North Side Trail # 72, P’tit Bonheur,
via the lower parallel to La Crete, Via Beauchemin Haut, Upper, opened
yesterday as we reported in last nights Apres Ski.

The reason this is important is that previously, all Mountain traffic, no matter
where you where going, had to share La Crete to get anywhere. Opening the
lower pathway to P’tit Bonheur, which can also be used to access Nansen,
relieves La Crete from tremendous wear stress. The traffic generated moguls
and periodic washboard effect are vastly reduced as volume practically gets
split in half over 2 routes instead of 1.

Weather Notes:

HEY... It’s supposed to be Sunny???
Absolutely no sign of that at Sud/South Resort Base Level, yet.

Conditions Notes:

Within the range of "Very Fine" to “Excellent” for this date in a one-week old
new season. A solid, firm base with high density compaction, a fine granular
top layer of very workable soft, fresh natural snowfall incrementally arriving
over the past 3 days.

Due to the relative thinness of the loose top layers it is very fine technical
skiing for Experts who need to be mindful of the lateral grip limits of carved
turning force, however, there is great natural speed in this snow, and with
sensitive use of gradually applied edge-set, there is very reliable Summit-To-Base
high performance if you bring the right tools(sharp, fresh edges) for the job.

For Beginners and Intermediates, there is excellence when actual skills are
appropriately matched to rated Green or Blue open terrain.

Conditions Caveat: With limited early season Open Terrain, there are
multi-skill level users in all trails and careful attention is required for
traffic awareness and safe passing margins. When there is absolutely
no else around, you can go fast anywhere, but excessive speed by
Intermediates and Experts in terrain in use by Beginners is not appropriate.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
