102/102(*) Open Trails.

Only One Example(but an important one) Of Dozens
Of Extraordinary Tremblant Trail Quality Stories.

Small Trail, Big Sign.

Versant Nord/North Side Trail #64, Marie-Claude Asselin,
is a former, circa 1948, surface lift line.

Consequently, it is architecturally a “Perfect” Fall-line
that was originally intended to facilitate Skiers being
pulled up the Mountain without any deviation from being
the absolute straight line necessary for the lift-cable to
function. What you see above is just how magnificent that
is when the purpose has been flipped over from Accent
to Descent.

It is Challenge Rated as single Black Diamond. When it is in
this condition of Groomed excellence, we call it an easy Black
trail, and we would not hesitate to take a confident Intermediate
with good “Hockey-Stop” skills on it under supervision.

It is a very happy coincidence that it also happens to be
geographically located in the Lowell Thomas Sector of
the upper Versant Nord/North terrain that is just below
the Mountain Peak. When the prevailing Winter Winds from
the Sou-West blow over the Summit, this entire range is in
the “Lee-Side” favour and much fresh natural snow drifts
in here, retained very effectively by the tall trees that act as
scoops to harvest and protect the snowfall. At the seasons
fullness, it has so much snow, it’s safe to run a Groomer on
it(as well as the adjacent Trail # 65, Banzai), with the spectacular
results you see.

So, a small trail by dimension, but a very big sign of seasonal
maturity and development.

Beyond all that, we can tell you no camera on Earth can capture
the gorgeous serenity of this scene in person. The beauty you
will experience in this intimate snow-white winter domain will
take your breath away and you should go here to see it for yourself
as quickly as your Skis will take you. It is a gift from Mother Nature,
brought to you only by the Mountain Op’s group at Tremblant.

Weather Notes:

This is an absolute text-book classic case where the cooler by -4C
temps of Mountain elevations save the day for the retention of all
sub-zero C’s and the “winter” quality over the Alpine trial network
when Sud/South Base levels reach 0C.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

By the end of the day, the vast expanses of groomed trails become
impressive in your daily experience here at Tremblant because they
simply never seem to run out. Oh sure, you may cross your tracks at
either top or bottom to access sectors or lifts, but other than that, you
can cruise immaculately prepared, fully optimized, superbly smooth,
individual, different trails all day long without repeating any specific
trail twice, and... you will still have left-over trails you could not get to.

In the Sous Bois, Glades, Hors Piste, Un-Groomed Categories:

Get lost.

This Sous Bois sample above is now 38 hours old and the
only difference is that there’s more new snow. If this is not
enough Hors Piste challenge for you, you’re “nuts".

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
