T360 Apres Midnight, Apres Ski Edit At 12:45 A.M.
It was a warm wet one, but both were short, unfortunately during
open hours, but still short.
At The End Of The Day...
We did not get pic’s today. Sorry about that,
we encountered swirls of sheet-like rain and
our camera is not water or splash proof, and
there was never any chance of keeping the
lens clean either. Tomorrows going to be a
whole new day, sunny, westerly-windy and
cool at -8 C.
Is there a potential “Silver Lining”?
The wind is a Sub-Zero C howler tonight. Is there
any possibility it could freeze-dry much of the
rain saturation out of the top layers?

Meet Your New Best Friends At Tremblant.

Due to weather factors that could include snow, rain, freezing rain, fog,
wind, and any combination of all of the above, simultaneously...
(See all attached below.)
It could be a complex day on the Mountain. When that can or does occur,
the unique and very helpful Tremblant “Info.Ski” Crews, pictured above at
their Summit station, are indeed your very best friends on the Mountain for
Intel regarding Trail Status or Mountain Logistics.
Things can change in minutes. What you see above is that the whole crew
are “Radio Controlled”, so the evolving “Dynamic” of changing access, hours,
or any other form of operational modalities are instantly communicated to
this ensemble and you can have the benefit immediately.

There Are More Best Lines On The Way...
The weather will mean that there is a temporary halt to
snowmaking, but that will be brief too. Go back to yesterday
and look at the Snowmaking Icons on the Official PDF copy
and you can see where all the development is active.
We ran a Duncan sample last night and here is a Sud/South
Taschereau example below. Once the temps drop back Sub-Zero,
we expect that this will all fire right back up, ASAP.

Weather Notes:
At this stage, the daily high temp at +9 C, is a few degrees above
where we would call a good chance of the precipitation at Mountain
Elevations being snowfall. That does not however mean it is impossible.
As long as base level temps are single digit “+”, air strata above the
Mountain’s peak can be cool enough to produce snowfall even at these
base level temp’s, but the odds are not that great.
One possibility is that there will be a mix of various forms of rain and
snow over the course of the event.
We are technically still in late “Fall”, so these temp swings are totally
normal. Sometimes they can last for days, so in this case, the few,
short hours of this warm blip are at least brief.
Environment Canada Winter Storm Warning:
Talk About Complex!
Conditions Notes:
It’s going to be “Spring Skiing” in Fall. It happens...
The blessing in this for the few, brave souls out for it,
is that the skiing will be fantastic. Softness generated
by warm wet weather means instant, albeit temporary,
elimination of icy bits, so universal traction is the usual
byproduct you can have fun with over the warm hours.
Due to the fact that is has been quite cold up to this moment,
there is a tremendous residual frost in the base and we do not
think this warm, rainy bit will be long or strong enough to
get into the surfaces by more than a few millimetres. The
stored frost is too well established for a handful of warm
hours to really get into in our opinion.
Is there a “Bright Side” to all this?
Additionally, the forecast shows a transition back to snowfall
as the event matures into this evening so what we think is that
the whole package is going to re-consolidate the entire groomed
trail network into armour plate where ever Mountain crews can
groom and pack it all into one homogeneous surface. This could
end up being one of the most significant set-points for the durability
of the base in this early season.
In the meantime... you may need this...
