Another little warm, but short blip crossing over
and then back under Zero C.

It is very common for late fall weather patterns
to include oscillations above and below Zero C,
and certainly we’ve seen some recent, and rather
dramatic examples of that. If there’s a positive
way to look at them in the past, and anticipate
what’s in the long range forecast at this stage,
it’s that they're really short spans of hours, not
days or weeks. In that sense, it could even be
argued, from a mechanical point of view, that
the contribution each warm cycle makes to
generating a layer of very densely compacted
strata groomed into the base, could be a positive
element in what will become a lamination of base
layers. In the fullness of winter, that stratified
lamination could become an extremely important
durability factor for trail conditions stability.

If you’re a clever or really observant Tremblant student,
you’ll see that the open trail number is the same as
yesterday, but the actual open trails is different by one.

Here is a clue on the trail added, to making the difference...

The answer to the “Trail Added” is....
Versant Sud/South Side Haut/Upper, Taschereau.
Taschereau has had snowmaking development
since 12.4.21, so despite weather delays, there
has been lots of time for the big bumps of blown
snow to settle and we think that by the time it
is really accessible to the general public, it should
be really fine.

The reason the pic. above is important is to expressly
acknowledge that Taschereau is not just made up with
blown snow, the snow in trees back 4 days ago may
be gone now with the heat and rain of the past weekend
but it is part of a major natural snow component of the
grooming blended mix in the final trail surface product,
and that is going to be a big asset in its opening quality.

The trail taken away is Versant Sud/South Side Tam-Tam,
which is a Kidz Zone, off of Nansen Bas/Lower.

In balance, especially for Experts, Taschereau is going to
be a very much appreciated steeper, more challenging run.
Normally it would take a day to break it in, today, that is
being done for you because it is “Race” training designated.
It is possible the race restriction may only run a portion of
day, so maybe(?) it will be accessible later on???

Weather Notes:

With these Sud/South Resort Base level temp. values
it could end up at just under Zero C at Mountain
elevations, so we’re very content to see overcast
for the day because it is literally a sun-shade that
will vastly reduce the chances of thaw and/or any
consequent surface saturations. Basically, at these
temps., clouds are a good thing.

It should also be noted that there is not currently
even one single above Zero C overnight temp. cycle
in the 14 day long range outlook, so we would say
that is a very good indication of complete, daily, base
integrity.

Conditions Notes:

Predominantly “Winter” at Mountain elevations, however
there may be variable degrees of “Springiness” in surfaces
as you descent, particularly on Versant Sud/South Side
trails. The Nord/North range is more likely to remain
solid all day, but even that could see soft tendencies at
base levels.

This presupposes that the temps remain at forecast values,
so if it floats either up or down, expect things to lean towards
firm or soft accordingly.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
