There is more natural snow on the ground today at March 3, than there
is for the 20 year average seasonal total, so it’s not hard to understand
why everything is excellent within the respective skill level trail ratings.

The foundation created by the early onset of cold weather and frost into
the Mountain back last November, generated the basis for nearly all the
following snowfall to be retained with very little loss. Additionally, the
compaction in the groomed trails has consistently been near ideal and
consequently the front-side carving performance has been wonderful
here now for months on end.

Weather Notes:

For today, tomorrow and Saturday... fantastic.

Moving forward and historically speaking with reference to this
specific season, we may well be at the pinnacle of uninterrupted
winter maturity.

We say that because even though we’ve had a couple of freezing
rain events, they are never erosive, so while maybe inconvenient
due to infrastructure and trail surface coating, they do not reduce
the snowpack with liquid thaw. Overall, we’ve enjoyed every moment
of a chilly, but technically superb, ski conditions winter.

Evidently that could change over the course of the weekend as
the forecast went from a snow event on the Sunday long range
outlook yesterday to the rainy, warmer model now projected.
It is also possible that the forecast could change from going up,
to going back down, but we need to say that when it comes to
“March”, anything can happen.

The beauty that can be found within the quiet, intimate
spaces of Tremblant in these conditions will stay in your
memory forever. It is simply spectacular.

In addition to the extraordinary scenery, the complete snow
cover of virtually every surface within sight also acts a soft
sound absorber so there is an unusual degree of silence here
that takes a quiet moment to register when you stop to let
yourself be immersed in it. It is quite near “Heavenly", if you
can imagine it.

Conditions Notes:

For today, across all skill levels and challenge ratings
we fully expect the excellence that has been common
throughout the recent/current Tremblant experience.

There’s tons of snow, more now than the 20 year total averages,
plus the weather has been cool, so the base is very, very stable,
and the grooming refinements have reached the epitome of
seasonal development, all within the last week to 10 days.

If you have been here for the past couple of days, you will
have noticed an increasing level of glide and inherent speed
in the groomed surfaces following the last big snow. What
that means to us is that the combination of grooming and
traffic are resulting in a settled top layer compression.
While the wee touch of friction in the original rendering
was great for control over steeper pitches, the now improved
glide will be appreciated especially by Snowboard enthusiasts
who won’t need to take a foot out so frequently for traversing
plateau’s or shallow run-outs.

Please Note: It is week 1 of the annual 2 week Quebec school
holiday period and there has been a bit of traffic line-up’s at
lifts. The wait times have been variable, sometimes none, but
mostly under 5 minutes especially on Versant Nord/North
Side lifts where it’s been frequently the case that you can ski
right on using the singles line.

We actually expect the school holiday traffic to be less
next week because the province is split up and this week
is the week off for the West side of Quebec, so there are
a lot of close-at-hand regionals here now. With next week
being the far East side of Quebec off, there are typically
smaller numbers of travellers as they mostly attend at Ski
areas close to home.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
