Tremblant Makes You Smile!

Spontaneous Natural Smiles Are Always The Best Signs Of Great Skiing!
At the moment the pic above was taken, we did not know,
and had never-ever met the person who has such obviously
beautiful, well balanced technique. The shot was on the final
pitch above the runout of trail # 95, Versant Soleil Algonquin,
and we were randomly sampling passing skiers to illustrate the
superb conditions. We eventually met this person, and what
turned out to be a group of 3 from Bromont Qc., up for a
Tremblant visit, in the Soleil Quad lift que.
The main point is, that Skiing in such extraordinarily fine
conditions actually makes you smile for the pure joy and
exhilaration of the moment, and we consider ourselves to
so very, very fortunate be able to capture this emotion in
a perfectly natural sense of un-staged spontaneity.
The Recreational Sports Tourism Industry pays professional
models to stage happy, smiling action shots for brochures,
we like to find genuine, totally natural ones because they
reflect the absolute authenticity of the real experience.

Weather Notes:
Really, really close to perfect...
Conditions Notes:
All things considered...
Beautiful, Fine, Excellent.

To be objective, and so we can not be criticized for being to rosy
or unrealistic...
The reason we say “All things considered” above, is that the
recent active weather over the past month has included 2
very short, but significant freezing rain events that are
embedded, and also assimilated, into the stratifications of
the total snowfall profile. Due to subsequent snowfall, they
are almost undetectable for about 95.619% of the groomed
trail array. Due to subsequent wind, temperature and traffic
patterns there can be some minor slick or icy bits where the
base has become exposed. Your perceptions of any of those
small slick or icy bits is directly proportional to the state of
your skis or board edge tune.
We appreciate that T360 readers, being above average enthusiasts
may be the least likely to need this reminder, however even in that
case it is up to the keenest, best prepared enthusiasts to promote
the safety and performance benefits of tuned gear to all they know
within the general recreational skier/boarder populations. No other
single factor can have such a profound effect on abilities to perform
safely and well at any skill level.
On The Flip-Side...
Over 95% of groomed square surface area is excellent
and here is a major reason why:
3.10.22.Nord.North.Ptit.Bonheur.Proof.Of.Drifting.b.jpg
What you see above is only one sample of hundreds of
examples of harvested contour snowfall drifting that have
been groomed/integrated into the finished trail base adjacent
to this absolutely wonderful, obvious, trail-side abundance of snow.
In many cases, drifting at Tremblant can be responsible for
individual sector snowfall accumulations that can be up to
50%, or more than the statistical total for specific snowfall events.
This is why we endlessly refer to drifting as a beneficial element
of the Tremblant matrix. As we frequently write... we are often less
concerned with the stat total for any given snowstorm, than the
way Mother Nature has shaped it with wind-induced drifting.
The specific P’tit Bonheur example you see above is literally
180 degrees behind the prevailing Sou/West wind direction
and is just below the Summit on the Lee-side of the Mountain,
so this is a perfect example of “Backfill” drift-in being blown
over the Summit peak where it commonly settles within the
entire Lowell Thomas sector where we take most of our
“Proof Of Snow” pic's.
