One of the most versatile ranges of trail category can
be found within the “Recently Groomed” group that
includes this Versant Nord/North Side sample, Trail # 64,
Marie-Claude Asselin, Bas/Lower pic.featured below.

Regular readers here will know that we use this trail as
one of our most significant diagnostic indicators of both
sector and overall Mountain refined, groomed status.
This trail is currently in excellent easy Expert condition.
The recent grooming was finished to roughly a blade
and a half of a groomer width and as you can clearly see
by the skier action, there are very soft, bankable trail edges
that facilitate smooth turning mechanics. Additionally, if you
look to the top visible crest of the trail surface, you will also
see that it is level, evenly flat, and has a very slight concave
wall-to-wall profile which are all primary user-friendly assets.
Weather Notes:
Double Barrel Snowfall.
Once In The Morning, Once Again In The Afternoon.
A Wakeup Call At 13 cm’s, plus however much we get this afternoon!
Please Note Below: In the top left graphic, we have superimposed
a red dotted line over the original white line that indicates the
direction of the storm path. It is a total coincidence that the
original source line runs right through Tremblant, but it does
illustrate the “right on the line” for active weather that we
often identify.

The snowfall that was predicted to commence yesterday
afternoon and fall through the night started right on cue,
you could watch it coming in...

Conditions Notes:
In the overall perspective, with loads of fresh snow, and more
coming during the day, conditions are going to favour Experts
so the entire Mountain can be considered an excellent playground.
However, for Beginners and Intermediates...
Within the freshly groomed array, and starting with the “Green”
rated trails, there should be top-to-bottom and wall-to-wall
excellence because pitch angle means everything to the relationship
between all day retained smoothness and the tendency to evolve
mogul formations in the soft depths of newly compacted snowfall.
Where the transitions occur into the “Blue” trails, there is a high
probability that some thickness and irregular mogul formations
could develop. For this reason we suggest that Beginners and less
confident Intermediates remain safely in the shallower descents
until thoroughly warmed up and absolute speed and directional
control can be maintained without fail.
Conditions Summary:
If you’re a Beginner or Intermediate, as long as you gradually
work up in challenge level, you will have a fantastic day. If
you’re a legitimate Expert, it’s a fantastic day to go “Nuts”
with playful abandon.
