102/102(*) Open Trails On All 4 Sectors At #Tremblant .
Not Technically, But On A Functional Level...
Spring Arrives.
It looks like this to begin with...
but... depending on how warm the sun, wind or combinations
happen, we may see the snow in the trees recede.

It’s forecast to rise to +1C today at the Sud/South Side base,
and with every single day in the 2 week long range outlook
with an above Zero C daily high temp we call that, at least
functionally... “Spring”.
It is also the first week-day of the Ontario Spring school
break and that’s also a definite sign of seasonal advancement.
There could be some additional traffic but if the samples
of the Quebec Spring breaks over the last 2 weeks were
any indication, there appeared to be somewhat less than
normal crowds. Consequently we do not expect there to be
huge overall numbers however, we could be wrong and
the morning up-load times may more accurately reflect the
quantity of vacationers attending.

Weather Notes:
What we’re hoping for out of the 24hr period is that the
snowfall hours this evening may produce enough to crack
into the 500cm’s seasonal accumulations stat’s. That would
make it an Official T360 “Super Season”, as defined by 20%
above the 24 year TOTAL average at just over 420 cm’s.
When you think about the really cool winter we’ve had,
and now looking at the sudden switch-flip into spring-like
conditions, it almost makes it seem like a binary season...
but...
We are not in the slightest worried about the warm spell
that seems to be on the way. To begin with, it’s been a cold
winter, so there’s a ton of very deep frost into the Mountain
which is going to act as a radiant time-release of cold stability
for weeks and weeks, not to mention that most of the overnight
low temps are still sub-zero C at Mountain elevations. What we
think this really means is that it shows every promise of being an
exceptional “Spring Skiing” season.
Conditions Notes:
Across the entire span of freshly groomed trails...
Due to a combination of naturally cooler Mountain elevations
by a typical -4C, as well as a partially overcast cloud ceiling,
we are forecasting a winter-like carry-over in the snow surfaces
for the entire day. There may be some tendency for temp related
softness but we do not think there will be any meaningful thaw,
so that could actually render out some spectacular high performance
traction action with very grippy edge-set capability.
It is day-2 of a post snowfall event, so that means a second
night-shift of grooming to compress the loft softness of new
snow to a wider scope of optimized density.
Referring back to the use of the word “Softness”, in this case
it could be considered from 2 different aspects. With reference
to the association with grooming, yesterdays 16cm’s should
now have a noticeable reduction in total loft that will translate
to a firmer, less spongey feeling underfoot. With reference to
temperatures and softness, that refers only to the very top
layer of snow, say 2 or 3 cm’s that could be exposed to warm
air temps.
The difference is: going from yesterdays “soft over soft”, to today’s
“soft over firm”, so there should be far less tendency to build
moguls or bumpy characteristics with traffic use.
In the Sous Bois/Hors Piste and Un-Groomed, the winter-like
carry-over should be complete and undisturbed, everywhere.
Keeping in mind most of these zones are within portions of the
Versant Nord and Edge sectors, they should have a primary
benefit of both cooler elevations and opposite facing direct solar,
if that happens.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.
When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
(

First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
