15(*) Open Trails.

A Very Short, Very Small, Technically “Fall”, Thermal Burp.

Small, short thermal burps can and do happen in any “Fall”
weather cycling, so we have to endure briefly and not only
make the best of it, but look at the bright side, at least as
we see it in the long run.

That bright side is that if a wee bit of dampness gets injected into
the top surface layer, then groomed, that facilitates an immediate
up-scale of the base density. The base now becomes a cohesive
mantle over the trail network that acts as a foundational membrane
that is to a great degree, impervious to future warm weather.

In the meantime, here’s precisely what you need...

Weather Notes:

A lot of what will affect the Mountain today will be the
cloud height, or what aircraft pilots call the “ceiling”.

With the light rain icons in the hourly forecast during
open hours, it is quite possible that the Mountain
may be nothing more than foggy, especially if the
ceiling is low. This is because the rainy bits are typically
small transient patches that the winds move quickly
through the region, sometimes missing the Mountain,
and are mostly active at ground levels. Often, elevations
get far less, sometimes almost none.

Currently, the ceiling is low, the Summit is foggy, and
we like to point out that rainy bits commonly occur
below the cloud, not so much in the cloud.

We could be wrong, obviously there are a lot of wild
cards, but if you have a Poncho as a way to stay dry,
it just does not matter as much.

Vision may be an issue, but the solution there is a pair
of yellow lens industrial safety glasses that allow air
flow but protect from eye-blast while restoring contrast.
You don’t need goggles, it’s already warm out and the
yellow lenses restore surface contour definition/detail
in foggy conditions to almost normal. We coat ours with
Rain-X and cruise around with totally functional, easy vision.

Conditions Notes:

In The Groomed:

From a clinical perspective, these groomed conditions
are high traction action fun! No one will believe it, but
we’ve had some of our most fun days in fuzzy days
like today simply due to the extraordinary spring-like
grip that these soft top layers will have today.

Of course... the challenge is to stay dry and comfortable
enough to enjoy them. That’s where the good ‘ole Descente
brand poncho comes in, it’s arguably the very best, most
practical method of dealing with this weather while getting
the most fun possible in the skiing experience.

Just a reminder... 4 days ago it was very cold and that cold
has not gone anywhere, yet, so we think the solid integrity
of the base should remain unaffected.

A word to the wise for those attending in the next few days...

When the temps drop, you’re going to be wanting to bring
sharp, fresh edges, do it now.

In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:

Yesterday we wrote... “Enjoy them while you can...”

They’ll be back, but it may take a little while...

Archival Copy Of Official Daily Message:

Bonjour Tremblant! Today’s weather forecast calls
for a mix of precipitation and strong winds.
We remain optimistic about operating our mountain
as usual, but some challenges may arise throughout
the day. To stay up to date with the latest information,
please check this page regularly.

Please take note that the alpine touring trails are closed.

The forecast is looking good for the snowmaking,
and we're gearing up to open even more skiable
trails and lifts in the coming days. Several mountain
areas are currently being progressively snowed in,
all in preparation for our highly anticipated 24h
Tremblant event, happening from December 13th to
15th. Get ready for an unforgettable winter adventure!

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you “Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.
