Tremblant SUPER DEMO DAY
ADVANCE NOTICE: Saturday December 21, 2024.
We have written dozens of times over the seasons
in this record about the fundamentally important
value of “Super Demo Days” to any person who is
truly interested in optimizing their new skis purchase
experience.
One of the main reasons is that we anecdotally estimate
that 50 %, maybe MORE, of average recreational skiers
are on the WRONG skis to suit their skills, aptitude, style,
technique, capabilities, individual bio-mechanical potentials,
or any other way of expressing the clinical criteria of their
“Ideal” new ski choice. What we see nearly every day is
that poor ski choice is holding people back((#) @ page bottom).
It goes something like this...
Many, many new skis are purchased from the nice kid
with the Dragon Tattoo at the BIGBOXCO. discount
sporting goods store, who just graduated from the
intensive 2 day Ski Fitment Formula Training course
up at “Head Office”, and has plugged your ski purchase
questionnaire answers into the magic ski equation. The
product of this process has generated the recommendation
you are encouraged to purchase and walk out the door with,
WITHOUT EVER HAVING SKIED ON THEM...
Even if you have a genuine, experienced, Expert ski
sales person profile you, WITHOUT ACTUALLY SEEING
HOW YOU SKI, there is a good chance you may still end
up with a less than ideal ski.
For sure , you will be able to ski on them, but almost
equally for sure is that they may not be ideal for your
mechanical capability profile, and...
Until you can compare them with real “On The Mountain”
experience by sequentially skiing the Mountain with
Ski “A”, “B”, “C” and “D”.... YOU WILL NEVER KNOW FOR SURE.
Super Demo Days Are The Only Practical Way
To Get Close To Dialling In “IDEAL”.
Weather Notes:
Yup, compared to the last 3 days it gunna’ be kkkool,
but at least there’s not much wind for today.
Conditions Notes:
Breaking Snowmaking News!
Sud/South - McCulloch !
Nord/North - La Griffe and Duncan Haut/Upper !
Edge Sector - Action !!!
Yipeeee! All big names in the local favourites lists!
Basically, all these plus the ongoing Soleil Sector
work are what we think are the best insights for
the Christmas Day package.
Otherwise:
In The Groomed:
11cm’s of fresh snowfall is a significant enhancement over
a well established base, so where freshly groomed and
integrated into the top layers it should nothing short of
fantastic across all skill levels. Trails like the newly opened
Sud/South Summit sector Taschereau yesterday, should
be a noticeable notch up in fine particle consistency today
with the cumulative effects of new snow, a days worth of
break-in traffic, plus an overnight grooming cycle, all
working synergistically to elevate quality.
Where there may have been wind-faced wide open expanses
there could also be slick or icy bits, but they should be very easy
to identify and slow down appropriately for. If you see any of
that, keep an eye out for patterns you can anticipate for safety.
Temps on the Mountain just recently touched the Zero C mark,
so the drop down now will likely have things on the firm side
and for that reason, good sharp edge tuning will be an asset.
In The Sous Bois/Hors Piste/Glades and Un-Groomed:
We had hoped that the new snowfall would be enough
to kick-start some of these areas, however at the early
time of this writing no reopen’s yet. It is possible that
we might see changes in these categories and if we catch
any updates we’ll add them in here.
------ Sous Bois Insert Update At 10:01 A.M. -----------
Mogul Trail # 97, LTE, Under the lower portion of the Lowell
Thomas Quad has been Opened.
---------------- 10:15 A.M. Insert Update: ----------------------
(Apres Ski Edit on the Sud/South Base Gondola
access status: Not ready yet, looks like probably
Saturday now as work seems to have stopped for the
day and crews still have quite a bit of framing to move.)

Archival Copy Of Official Daily Message:
Bonjour Tremblant! We received 31 cm of snow over
the last week! Ski or ride our freshly covered trails;
the conditions are simply fantastic. The temperatures
dropped during the night and it makes our 36 trails
even more beautiful. Dress warm and come enjoy your
favorite mountain!
With the return of cold temperatures, snowmaking will
resume in several areas of the mountain. We are optimistic
with our plan and hope to open several new slopes soon!
Mountain Safety Tip of the Week: Stop on the side of the
slope – If you have to stop, do so in a location where you
are visible, on the side of the trail. Before resuming your
descent, make sure that the slope is clear before proceeding.

(#) Re: From Top Of Page --- Skiers being held back by poor ski selection.
In a lot of cases, for example, it’s capable athletes that
are trying to learn East Coast carving, but they told the
kid with the Dragon Tattoo that they may want to go out
West, so now they have a 18 to 21 metre turning radius
180Cm’s full-rocker, twin-tip ski that is only good for
Revelstoke B.C. with 2 metres of fresh powder.
Effective East Coast Carving? Not going to happen...
In that case we’d have to say that any ski purchase
might be best optimized around an 80/20 principle,
where you buy a ski that is best suited to either where
it will spend 80% of its working life, or 80% of its time
being able to execute what style of skiing you want to do.
If you want ski a front-side groomed carving style, i.e. “East”,
that’s never going to be that full-rocker twin-tip, not at least
if you want to rip short radius carve turns.
