4(*) Official Open Trails, representing 2
North Side Summit based descents on
P'tit Bonheur and Beauchemin to Lowell Thomas
Triple Chair.
What you see is what you get!
This shot of a Ski Patrol member on Beauchemin
is less that 24 hours old and you will find exactly the same
thing today. Even though early season open terrain may be limited, the true
Ski/Board people are as enthusiastic as ever to be out on ANY
available slopes carving, riding, gliding and generally getting
into shape for the sweet snowy days of mature winter that will
be here very soon.
For goodness sake, we see YouTube video's of kids using
crushed ice and plywood in parking lots for Park Tricks...
Tremblant has that beat by a Million Precent!
Over this still very young season we have written about the value
of early season training days and there is still no reason to diminish
the significance of that. Building strength, muscle, agility, reaction and
sport specific reflex's does not depend on the quantity of Open terrain
so much when we can ski/board what we already have here at Tremblant.
By the standards of most "local" ski hills that non-local Tremblant fans
use when they can't be here, even these early season open slopes eclipse
what many smaller areas have in good mid-season.
Part of why what we have is so good, is the fact that Tremblant Crews
can work at almost 3000 feet over sea level at Tremblant's Summit
where colder temps due to this elevation allow both snowmaking and
retention, when other lower places have no such options.
Todays weather is warmer than any of the weather models were
projecting just a few days ago when we were hoping to have
well below zero that would be good for snowmaking. Instead
today, we have zero or so at South base. The Summit is still below
zero, enough to hold the snow in the trees from yesterday morning.
We'll take that over heat, any day. Looking at the Summit Web Cam generally, then with
zoom-in views, can tell us a lot about the day before we
head over to the Mountain in the morning. The winds are light and from the South-West, so moving across the Summit
from the Soleil sector. Riding up Lowell Thomas should be quite
pleasant for both snowy tree close scenery and mild temps.
4(*) Open Trails on todays list,
representing 2 descents on the North
to the Lowell Thomas Triple Chair Via
P'tit Bonheur and Beauchemin Haut, Upper.
If you're Happily involved with a partner,
married, cohabiting, seeing one-another,
in-a-relationship, etc., etc., you never
think about being "stuck" with that one
person. That's the positive way we think about
Tremblant, no matter how much terrain is open.
The fact that Tremblant Mountain Crews do such a
good job of keeping what is open in such fine shape
is icing on the cake.

When reviewing dates from any past, numbered, archived index pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
