28(*) Open Trails on the Cool, Crisp
Sunny Slopes of Tremblant!

It's cool out, so bundle up. Fortunately,
almost no wind.

On The Way To La Griffe!
La Griffe is one of the most popular North Side runs
off the Expo Quad Chair Summit. Due to the weather
it's been on the "progressive" or gradual opening list
quite a bit this week, but today, it's OPEN, open, no
restrictions, so we're running these pic's, sent to us
from Ottawa friends and fellow Tremblant Fans "Miller"
and "DJKidSL" .

Hey Miller! ... Over Here!

Turn hard right off the Expo Quad Chair and you're on
your way to La Griffe, across the top of Sissy Schuss
and Fuddle Duddle.

On My Way... There's a lota' Snow here!

Standing at the entrance to La Griffe, looking back the way
we came from the top of the Expo Quad. In the background
you can see the Summit and the top of the Duncan Quad.
A close look up there also shows snowmaking on upper
Lowell Thomas.

Before heading off to the Mountain, we love to look at
the Web Cams. It's always reassuring to have a window
into the days conditions that, in combination with
the weather forecast, tells us how to prepare for the day.

Fun With Web Cams! Too Much Time On Our Hands?
Oh, who cares, it's still fun to stitch these Web Cam Snap Shots
together to form a panoramic composite!

-17C to start out with will be a bit of a "eye opener" this morning,
it always takes us a few days to get used to "winter", but with
very bright sunny skies, very little wind it won't seem so bad if
you have all the vulnerable heat loss areas around wrists, neck waist
lower legs etc., etc. all well sealed.

With this intensity of direct sunlight, there will be noticeable thermal energy
in the rays if you stand quietly, trailside. It's the kind of day that if you
have a dark coloured jacket, you'll feel some heat build when not moving.

The Ski/Board surfaces will be fast, very fast, so you need to use
appropriate cautions yourself, and watch out for those around you
who may be beginners that don't yet have the fine control skills
and could end up in your path.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Winter Reports, Index/Archive: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any past, numbered, archived index pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

Additional Detail in the morning, but a main point of this is the comfort
that near future Tremblant trip planners from East or West, should take knowing that
the foundations for great conditions are on the ground, right now.

If you live regionally or locally, get out and have a Merry Alpine Christmas
on the best conditions in the Laurentian's that are literally getting better
every day!

I also braved the cold yesterday for a couple of runs! The top part of P'tit Bonheur was pretty icy when you stepped away from the snowblower at the Crête/P'tit Bonheur junction, but everywhere else was amazing. No crowds, sunny, perfect.
Here's a picture I took while getting dumped on by two M18 blowers.
