55(*) Open Trails on the really Chilly 3 Sides
of Tremblant.

It's -28C in St.Jovite this morning at 6:30 A.M.,
so we need to say that it is a full Arctic Cold Weather Warning.
at this moment.

This means particular attention to fully layered, overlapped
and sealed outer garments with maximum insulation inner
garments will be essential not only for comfort, but safety.

You can not have any exposed skin showing at these temps.
Frostbite can occur in seconds.

Children of all ages need special attention. Little hands and feet
can lose feeling and risk severe damage if left unattended.

The Temps are forecasted to rise to as much as
-17C by 9:00 A.M., and also forecasted to reach as high as -11C
by mid-day, But.... You need to
verify(**) that before you set off
to the Summit.
The reality may be different than the forecast.

Please note: Temps forecasted to rise 26 degrees C
in 24 hours with daytime high for Saturday at -2C

The Skiing and Boarding will be
"Out Of This World" Fabulous If...
You Are Properly Prepared!!!

We Love Our Snow "Squeaky" Cold!

Snow is like fine wines, there are excellent samples to be had
at both chilled and room temperature, but to us, well chilled Snow
is always the finest!

The crispness of the snow we have right now, especially because it is
recent fallen fresh snow that has not seen "Heat", has unique "grip",
"edge set" and "speed".

Today will be a Skiers Treat if you are ready for it.

Why We Need Nights/Days Like Today:

Nights/Days like today, help drive the frost deep into the Mountain. The
immense mass of the Mountain with a deep frost acts as an
ambient cold storage device in the "Spring". Every day and hour
we have at cold temps rewards us with more days and hours
of durable surfaces later on in the season. Days like today are one
reason we have such wonderful late season conditions so reliably
here at Tremblant when the stored cold offsets the spring heat.
It may well seem hard to appreciate that right this second, but there
is nothing we can do about the weather except to be properly informed
and prepared to cope with it, as well as to look on the bright side for
the future benefit we'll get from it.

"THEY" say that an appreciation for certain "Fine" beverages, like
Scotch or Cognac are "Aquired" tastes. This means that it may take
repeated samplings before one comes to "Enjoy" that beverage.
In those cases, multiple "tastings" despite any initial dislikes, are
what ultimately lead to the deeper appreciation or love that
connoisseurs of these beverages come to possess.

We think that this may be the appropriate analogy for the appreciation
of very fine, very cold snow. If you can get out there with the proper
preparations, being able to adequately cope with the Chill Factor,
your actual Ski/Board experience will reveal just exactly how fine
this mornings(or any mornings like this), surfaces are.

Today will be a Skiers Treat if you are ready for it.

If you're at Tremblant and you don't think you've got the
right gear...

Fear Not! You are in the absolute best place to get the right stuff!
and... on top of that, it's not always the most expensive stuff that
you actually need. Of all the layers that help to keep you warm,
the base underwear are arguably the most critical, and compared
to the fancy parka's or jackets, they are much less expensive.
Our experience is that wisely spending on the best quality base
layers gets you huge benefits in the cold comfort zone, and the
shops at Tremblant are some of the World's best at supplying
you with great VALUE in this regard.
Tremblant's shops supply
Tremblant Ski Instructors who are out there EVERY DAY and need
things that are durable and WORK. You can have that same gear.

YOU DO NOT WANT "CHEAP" BASE LAYERS. You want EFFECTIVE,
DURABLE base layers that WORK. If you take good care of them,
they will last you for many seasons.

We still have things we purchased at Tremblant more than a decade
ago that we haul out for days like today.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Winter Reports, Index/Archive: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any past, numbered, archived index pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.

( If you "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)

T360 Apres 5, Apres Ski

Wow, What a day!

From Wild...
to Mild...

if you think going from -29C to -9C is a "Dramatic"
rise in temps like we do!

Then... there's the all good news Tremblant.ca preliminary
Snow Report for tomorrow that shows:

60 Open Trails!

Soleil OPEN!
Edge OPEN!

as well as both South and North

But wait, There's More!

We've got a shot, however small of large, of more Snow!

The really cool part about the weather over the next day is
not just the warmer temps, but the low speed east wind. If
it snows, the snow will pretty much fall straight down with
a primary landing zone on the North Side, Duncan sector.
More Powder on Banzai!!!

For Historical, Archival records, Courtesy of Tremblant.ca,
we're adding some FB Album Pic's and we hope that in 20,
40 or 140 years from now, people looking here will see
exactly how much fun we're having as our current winter season
is getting geared up for 2012!
