1/7/12 Tremblant Conditions

Post by T360 »

10:00 A.M. Update ...

3 more runs opened this morning.

One Very Important North Side, "Rope Tow"
under the Lowell Thomas Triple Chair.

On the South, Cure' Deslauriers off the Flying Mile Summit,
and Chalumeau, a left side exit descending, off of lower
Desserres, to the P2 Parking Lot.

Chalumeau is a key infrastructure trail that will be quite handy
at the end of the day for those parked in P2.
With the "Porte du Soleil" Chair Lift open from P2 to get onto the Mountain,
that whole circuit from morning to end of day is now complete making
the P2 parking lot a very practical "Ski Out, Ski In" option.
One really nice benefit is that you can now access the Summit first
thing by descending from "Porte du Soleil" to the Soleil Quad straight to
the top, completely avoiding any morning crowds/lines at the South Side Base

73(*) Open Trails on the Preliminary List

Up Early for some reason @5:41 A.M. and we don't have the
Official Snow report yet, but it's usually between 5:10 and
5:40 A.M., so we expect it any second now.

Scattered Snow Flurries under partially clearing skies, so
increasing sunny conditions as the day matures.

Here's a sample Pic Forecast for what we should find later on this aft.

5:50 A.M. update: We have the Official Snow Report now and guess
what... the time stamp on it is 5:11 A.M., so evidently our "as early as"
guess @ 5:10 is not too bad.... and.... because it did not appear until just a few
minutes ago there may be either a server or publishing delay, both of
which are understandable.
73(*) Open Trails Verified on Published Daily Official Snow Report.
----------------------------------------------------------------

No matter, we already know the conditions for today are going to be
very mild, but just below freezing. Overnight has gotten down to -9C
and we expect a daytime high of around -2C, or 28F, so compared to that
session of -20's earlier on in the week, it will seem positively balmy
out today.

With the incremental fresh snow almost every day for several days now,
there's no doubt that the Skiing and Boarding are going to be very very
fine. On the Groomed terrain, there should not be any glitches at all
and on the un-groomed, not many there either.... but.... if there's
a lot of expert traffic, the centres of some of the Natural Snow only
runs could see the odd natural hazard.

Considering these are the last 2 weekend days of the Holiday period, the
possibility exists that it could be busy on the Mountain. We recommend
that as soon as you can Ski/Board the North, you get over there to avoid
the South Base where the majority of folks Upload to the Summit from.
Once you're on the North, use the single lines if you want to keep moving.
