95(*) Open Trails on the Beautiful, Highly Transitional,
Sunny Slopes of Tremblant.

We truly wish we could have all our Tremblant friends from
the 4 corners of the World here with us today, but we know that's
not really possible, so the best we can do is give you the
best "Window" we can. Wherever you are today, you are in our
thoughts and as we ski these magnificent Alpine gifts, we'll do
some turns in your honour.

(This is from the same location as one of our Apres Ski pic's
from last eve., but it was down the list in processing so we're
putting it in here because the 2 skiers in the foreground are
demonstrating what will be the most outstanding feature of
todays Skiing/Boarding... total, reliable, edge set and grip
anywhere at Tremblant!)

Talk about "Grip" ... today may be the defining day
for "Grip" as our beautiful Snow Surfaces Transition
through from "Cold" ambient air temps to exposure
to "Warm" from a "double barrelled"(**) shot of
thermal energy. The two sources of heat are going
to be from a Southerly originating warm air mass,
brought to you by the "Gulf Of Mexico" Via Texas,
the Mid-West, and on up, and.... at least forecasted...
direct solar radiation... beaucoup du Soleil, if that's
an allowable way to say it. Forecasted High Temp
today at +10 C.

((**) Double Barreled is a reference to the firing
of a two, hence "double" barrelled Shot Gun
simultaneously, and is an expression used for
denoting great force or effect from two sources
at the same time.)

Back to the "Grip" part... the existing "Winter" Snow Surface
base already has one of the best overall traction levels we've
had in many Moon's, but for this one day, if the weather all
happens the way it's forecasted to, the transition to "Warm"
or "Spring" will occur with no icy substrate. This is an important
distinction from any other day with "Spring" in the day and
"Sub-Zero" the previous night because from now on, if it freezes
overnight the mornings are going to have icy components until the
days "warm" soften things up.

Not Today... this may be the best overall carving(#) day we get for a while
because there is no icy substrate to speak of at all.

That makes today the only day of this season for these
Totally Ideal Transitional Carving Conditions!

(#)"Warning" -the Surgeon General has determined; That the preceding
statements accurately reflect the views and opinions consistent with
"DSS" (Delusional Slalomitis Syndrome) a highly contagious life
altering condition... (Handle with Extreme care & Patience)(***)

Please Note:

This report is the linked content to todays Tremblant.ca
Official Snow Report, however a close look will show it is
captioned with yesterdays time/date stamp. We will include
the current date copy if possible, but as the Open Trail Count
is the same, there will be little difference, if any. The most
likely possible differences would be in the Grooming column.

We're not sure what's on the mind of this contemplative person,
but we'd like to think it's probably about how awesomely beautiful
it is at Tremblant right now.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived index pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

( If You "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate, current to
25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by consecutive date.)

T360 Apres Ski...

We think a good way to show you the meaning of today may be
"Before" and "After" comparison shots of the same locations.

The "Before"part will be pic's from 2 or 3 days ago, when we had our
last "Snow" event, and the "After" will be today.

But Before We Show You That.... Please Note: Today's warm, mild weather
has not diminished the Scope of Tremblant Open Alpine Terrain. The Skiing
and Boarding are still excellent. There are obviously different surface
characteristics, but that's to be expected with what we might call a "Thermal"
event. We're just entering into a period of cyclical and frequently, daily
temperature fluctuations that may span both Minus and Plus temp values
within an overnight time frame, as "Spring" becomes more predominant.

You don't need to be a Rocket Scientist to see the
effect of warm, but in the trees, where it's most visibly
different, is not the same as the Alpine Snow Surfaces.

The differences on the "ground", so-to-speak, are least evident
in any loss of depth, which is minimal, and most evident
in the performance characteristics of the directly Solar exposed
snow. The Sun exposed snow became soft and damp, if not a light
shade of wet, consequently allowing water to form a suction seal
under your skis board which acted as an almost instant, high
resistance, speed brake.

There are 5 convenient ways of compensating.

1....Ski/Board early Morning when surfaces are at their firmest from
overnight cold exposure, or in the time before the Sun has enough
energy to go from softening to thaw.

2...... Ski/Board in the Shade, where available, as the Shaded portions of Trail
Snow Surfaces were, and usually are, capable of some glide.

3..... Use a Hydrophobic Wax or Coating on your base material to reduce
hydrodynamic drag.

4..... Ski Steeper runs as the braking effect will help control
speed.

5...... All Of The Above.

Moving On...

We are always surprised at the rapid speed that some plant based
lifeforms "Spring" to life at the soonest trigger of warmth and light,
particularly in the Lichens and Mossy plant groups.

We may have lost snow in the trees, but we've not lost activity in
the trees, they are as ready as ever for Spring.

The Ongoing Weather Drama....

We're Skiers, we want Cold and Snow, but it looks like
that's not the most likely thing to happen. Odds are, it's going
to rain.... Get out your Descente Poncho and go Skiing anyway...
We've had great, fun days in the rain Skiing Expo or Zig-Zag all day
in nice soft Corn Snow.

Anyway, here is The Weather Network Chart for tomorrow....

Will it be true? ... The Temp values shown on this chart are for South
Base Elevations, the Cooler Summit and upper North could get Snow.
Odds may be even slight, but it is possible...

Remember... A Descente Poncho for totally comfortable
rain or damp snowy skiing.
