We say "So Far" because at this first "Spring Ahead"
Day Light Savings Time, the Official Tremblant.ca Snow
report up @7:49 is still yesterdays preview for today, however,
the below attached Official Trail and Grooming PDF file
does have a 5:16 A.M. today date stamp. We have not
actually counted up the "Check Marks" below to see if the
totals agree, but it's the kind of day that might see one
or two up or down depending on wear factors.

Super Sunny, daytime highs projected at +6 C from overnight
-6 C.

If you live regionally, you should be in the vehicle now...
Today may well be one of the finest Spring Ski/Board days of
the season due to the fact that the coverage is still "Winter",
but the daytime high temps are going to be "Spring" and
ultimately, like at around 2:00 P.M. or thereabouts, so will
the softened Surfaces. It might even be sooner if the wind stays
light, but until then, we'll all be having fun on all the Winter snow
we got day before yesterday..

Very fine Cruising/Carving surfaces on Nansen are great exercise
for even experts who can rip off hundred of tight carved turns in a
single run. Doing complete "Top To Bottom" Nansen in full tilt
Slalom Mode is enough to turn your quads into jello, but the fun of
these tightly carved turns distracts you from much of the fatigue
sensations, so you don't really notice the total burn until
you're at the bottom.

A Macro Look At Some Of The Reasons
Tremblant Has Such Good Conditions...

The Beautiful Shapes Of Nature,
Trail-Side, Lowell Thomas.

These next two are actually from Friday, but they're pretty
well self explanatory in terms of why the North's snow is so
good right now.

:) Bring Back The Memories... Research Future Visits...
If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

GoTo: Archive, Search Reports by Date: Index: http://tinyurl.com/yktelmu

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived index pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.

( If You "Bookmark" the link above, it will always take you to the
index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate, current to
25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by consecutive date.)

T360 Middle of the Night, Global Apres Ski...

Starting out below Zero, things were firm to very firm
where they had been soft the day before.

A lot of the North was not effected much due to lower
daytime highs and the long shadows of end of day that
protect surfaces there from the intensity of direct
solar energy at just about the same time it's beginning to
really bake Soleil and the adjacent runs of the South.

Even though Soleil had a fair deal of "warm" applied during
the day, it did not seem to effect it's ski-ability too much. There
was the odd "Damp" section that had a braking effect, but that did
not effect us too much as we had coated our Ski Bases with a
Hydrophobic Fluro-polymer material that is very slippery at all times.
So, we managed to maintain speed, even where damp was much
more common in the afternoon heat.

After lunch, say by 2:00 P.M. or so even the North began to show
surface softening, but it never got mushy, it stayed rather like a fine
version of "Corn Snow"

The Warm finally did effect the Summit, north and the trees,
where snow that had stayed for two days, finally began to show
signs of heat and resultant snow reduction.

This loss of tree snow, in no way significantly effected Trail conditions,
they all remained very fine, right up to "Last Run".
