just to catch some "Winter"!

We hope you're havin' a good time at Tremblant!

We had a great day! You had to be meticulous about speed control,
even with fresh edges, there were icy sectors due to natural
Spring, Day/Night, Thaw/Freeze, daily temp cycles. (Otherwise,
we found many fine carving zones as well.)

More on that from a trusted friend below, as well as Apres Ski, coming up
shortly....

Perhaps you would prefer something a bit brighter,
Stylish, Tasteful, Bolder than Black, but not as intense as any
of the Neon's.... Something that while Bright, fits in Harmoniously
with the Ambiance of White Snow and Blue Sky.....

No Matter How You Outfit Yourself...
You Can Still Ski or Board at Tremblant
On Very Fine Spring Slopes That while limited,
...due to Mother Natures recent "Hot Flash",
are non-the-less, the very best we think you
can find in Eastern North America!

East of the Rockies, we don't think you can go to many places
right now and find 4 kilometre long runs with over 2100 vertical,
that you can do laps on all day.

But You Can At Tremblant!

Lucky for all of us that just happen to be here today!

Today's Weather .... Pure, Bright Sunshine, starting with a "Crisp"
-11 C, and forecasted to move up quickly to right around Zero C,
or the freezing mark. With the intensity of the Sun, there will be
a transitional Snow Surface that goes from very firm with some icy
substrates to just nicely softened with an excellent "Shred Factor".
This means there will be a very definite "Sweet Spot" in todays
conditions and we predict that will occur first on the South, then
later on the North. The exact timing could vary due to the wind.
Initially from the North, coming up between Nansen and P'tit Bonheur,
todays breezes should be far less than yesterdays gusty blustery roar,
and they may shift towards coming up Beauvallon well after lunch.

This is going to be a Classic Tremblant "Spring" day. We don't have as many
runs as we'd like, for sure, but what we do have is going to be very fine.
While there's nothing any humans can do about the East Coast getting
"Baked" for the last 2 weeks, Tremblant's Mountain Crews have managed
to preserve enough for all who want to get out for a few more days,
and they've given us fabulously smooth and surprisingly glitch free
surfaces to Ski or Board on!

Pay Close Attention To Today's Open List.
There's a lot of great open terrain!

You can pack your Skis or Board away,
just like a lot of other people are doing now...
or....
You can still go Skiing/Boarding at Tremblant,
and have a ton of fun on very fine Spring Slopes!

This is a "Spring" were Fine Alpine Slopes are like
Rare, Fine Wines... There aren't many, but when you find them,
they are so very precious.

Just got back from a few runs myself, this is a completely different mountain from last week! Very fast conditions, sharpen those edges!

You are so, so, so right about all that!

Thank you for that reminder because your point highlights what we should have had in
todays post, and as we've repeated here in the past... edges are a critical element to
having any sort of effective control input.

We had this in yesterdays Apres Ski and it should been here too, so now with all this
"Double Barrel" Sharp Edge support/re-enforcement, maybe more will actually do it!

"Don't forget to do your edges. You absolutely need good, sharp,
fresh edges to have optimal control. If you can't do your own edges,
bring them to the Ski Tuning/Repair shop at the foot of the Cabriolet
and let the Pro's do it for you.

Any Skis/Board Worth Owning Deserve Appropriate Edge Maintenance,
and this is when you need it."

We must say, there were some areas better today than yesterday, it seems as though the
traffic is helping to break up some areas, but the icy bit's can just come out of nowhere and...
Bingo... yer headed for the "sous-bois", i.e. bush, and quick, too!

Apres Ski coming up later on...

T360 Apres Ski....Sorry, but multi-tasking, so this is an evolutionary "Add When We Can" post
that will definitely take a few edits 'n additions.

It you scrolled through today's report, you will have seen a little "Banter" or light-hearted
exchange with one of our favourite Tremblant Fans, who has added emphasis to the whole
concept of "Sharp Edges".

We thought of a simple summary...

"Sharp" is the only way to get an "Edge" on Tremblant!

Everything done by Mountain crews is absolutely necessary in order to preserve the quality and
the most "User Friendly" surface characteristics.

With day time thaws and nigh time freezes, ice formation is inescapable. The Laws of Physic's say so.
It's up to us to learn how to cope with that. We're happy that Mountain crews flattened everything
just as it's been freezing in the late aft/ early eve/, because a smooth slide-able sheet is way better
than frozen steep, deep, and tight moguls... X10. You can always side-slip to a lower or better traction area.

Otherwise we met folks up from West Virginia, U.S.A., here to catch a bit of
winter before it all goes away...

We asked permission to take some pic's, so here are some more samples
and we'd like to point out they had Cool Goggles and some cool moves too!

Not all the West Virginia Team Members are in the "Iridium Line-up",
we were trying an experiment with "Iridium" only to see how the reflections
might show.

It turns out that before we actually met these fine folks, we had taken some
North Park Pic's from a Chair on the Lowell Thomas Triple and caught some
of the team "Airbourne" so we're going to add couple of those here, before we
put up the staged ones from after we met and took the Cool Goggle shots.
As a matter of fact, we have so much other stuff to cover here with the
Alpine Conditions, that we'll have to put the "Staged" ones in tomorrow
mornings report.

And Now, back to regular programming....

If you did not have sharp edges you would have found it quite icy.

If you did have sharp edges, you would have found it somewhat icy.

After a big daytime thaw and a big night time freeze,
it's not hard to understand about "Icy". The difference
between "Quite" and "Somewhat" can be huge in many
terms, including Skiing Tremblant today, and that's were
the "Sharp Edges" come in.

Typical of many areas today, it was just cold enough to hold onto
overnight icy on the North. There were many areas of good carving too,
but you had to use extreme care in exploring and verifying safe passage,
before ripping around.

The top of Sissy Schuss was slick, except for the outboard edges which
both had soft turnable snow kicked out there by traffic using the middle.

This next pic. taken at the Upper Nansen entrance, beside the pitch,
was the separating line for "icy", below, was less so, above was a bit more so.

Every day after a major re-freeze means incremental improvements
over previous days and if you look back at yesterday's Apres Ski shot in this
same location, you can see exactly why. The Depth of the carve-able top
layer is double today.

It probably looks pretty green where ever you live, if you're not here,
but we still have this beautiful Alpine scenery to both Ski/Board in, as
well as to admire the views of.

If you can make it out, conditions are very fine considering all the
recent "Hot", and even if somewhat limited, the open terrain is still a
great joy to be Skiing on. "Golf" will come soon enough, so "Ski" while
you still can!
