14(*) Open Trails on the Increasingly White
slopes of Tremblant!
"Increasingly White" ....
Our First Trans-Lac Tremblant Panoramic of the New Season!
11.26.12. Tremblant as seen from the Public wharf across
Lac Tremblant.
Up until yesterday, this scene above was a rather dreary looking array of grey.
The Snow Storm changed all that though and we think this is more like what
we really want to get used to looking at for the next 5 Months!
Let's take a closer look at some of the detail we introduced in last eve's
Apres Ski with the Nansen and Gagnon Snowmaking shots. This one below
is taken looking diagonally behind the Gondola, down the length of Charron.
Off in the distance, you can see the Summit of the "Flying Mile" sector
and just below that trail #11 Belvedere, the short, steep way off Flying Mile
to get to the TGV. This concentrated level of Snowmaking is typical of many sectors of
Tremblant as Mountain Crews try to take full advantage of very
good conditions allowing Big Time production.
This is another reason for saying "Increasingly White" where
Mountain Crews are filling in from the point that the Snow Storm
left off.
Meanwhile, up at the Summit, the overwhelming impression that
has been created by all forms of new snow is one of Mid-Winter
scenery that only this abundant coverage can generate.
If we put this pic. up at the end of January, beginning of February,
it would seem perfect to us then...
To be Skiing/Boarding in this scene above, just after U.S. Thanksgiving is
purely a Dream!
Every day this type of production can be sustained, brings us another day
closer to more Open Terrain. Based on our observations and the obvious
increase in "White" everywhere at Tremblant, we think that day is rapidly
approaching. Amazing to tink at this point that Top-To-Bottom on the North
could be, maybe, just might, with good luck... only be a handful of days away!
Todays Weather....
Starts out a wee bit cooler than forecasted, around -12C, but once the
early overcast clears off, it's supposed to be mostly, or at least partially
Sunny out with temps rising up to maybe as high as -3C.
Winds are projected to be moderate, starting in the Sou-West,
crossing the Summit from the Soleil side towards P'tit Bonheur,
however we think there could be periods of gusty and variable
swirling wind, especially on the Summit, so keeping overlaps and
seals on garments properly secured will have you comfortable all
day.
Conditions are "Early Season Fantastic"... but it's not Mid February with a
6 foot base yet, so care, control and observant exploration are wise
on initial runs. Natural hazards can crop up with wind, wear or temperatures,
so go smart before you go fast.
We like this Nansen Upper Sunset Pic. below because it shows Snowmaking
on Nansen's Pitch in the background, it shows Snow in the trees which
means the daytime temps are holding nicely sub-zero to keep snow,
and finally, the beautiful Corduroy of the groomed surfaces here is
not only close to carving perfection, but at the end of the day, there's
still lot's left!

One of the main values we see in providing these reports is
how things are trending and how those trends can be useful
for visit planning on immediate, short, near or seasonal terms.
If you're a regional Tremblant fan, it's not too early to begin thinking
about organizing your weekend Skiing/Boarding now. If you can make
it out at all during the week, just do it.
If you're in Hampshire, U.K., Boston U.S.A. or Sudbury Ontario, for
examples, and your Tremblant plans are down the road a bit, so far,
we've got record-setting trends in both coverage and quality.
Given that Mother Nature stays consistently within her typical, winter
development patterns, the future for Tremblant Trip Planners looks
very bright indeed.
More later in Apres Ski....
