We start there with a three word weather synopsis...
------------------- 6:07 A.M. Orig. Post --------------------
14(*) Open Trails, and they're workin on dozens more at Tremblant!
Looks Like Winter...
Skis/Boards Like Winter...
Early or not... Welcome To Winter!
We could very easily get used to this kind of exceptional Season's
Opening with the amazing amount of terrain that's been available
right from the first Gondola ride up. We'll be keeping "Fingers Crossed"
for all future Openings to be half as good as this one, which brings us to
the point we want to make this morning which is...
Get Out And Take Advantage Of It!
Opening days like these do not happen every year and no one
should take it for granted or pass on the opportunity to take
part in a historically, statistically, record breaking start to
the season if they can.
O.K., maybe you live far, far away and it's not practical for you
to be here "At the drop of a hat", we can certainly all understand
that, but if you're a regional Tremblant Fan, there's no excuse for
not being out in these remarkably fine very early season conditions.
First....
You ride up this....
When you get to the top, you'll see this....
Then, you'll find pristine Snow surfaces like this...
P'tit Bonheur under the long shadow of the short day at last run. And then you'll rip of thousands of turns while you look like this...
Better than any Gym on the planet, early season training makes you stronger. If you think "Instant Coffee" is a good idea, then try this....
This season is as close to "Instant Winter" as
perhaps we've ever seen at Tremblant.
As far as we're concerned...
another one of the big stories is "Refinement".
While the number of Open Trails has not gone up yet, the level of
quality and/or dimension has in many cases, doubled.
Trails that had to include portions that were basically tracks to connect
everything up on day one, are now boulevards of wide open Alpine Carving
Dreamland.
Beauvallon Bas, Lower, had to be one of the best examples of that yesterday.
The usable width was double that of the day before and it was high traction,
wall to wall.
With the amount of Snowmaking going on around Tremblant, we would
not be surprised to see the Open Trail Count double in a week or so.
Scene's like this pic. above at the foot of lower Alpine(where it
intersects with Mi Chemin on the way to the TGV Quad base), are
happening all over the Mountain. Sooner or later, it's all going to
open up... and our bet's are on "Sooner"!
Todays Weather....
Another Chilly morning at -12C, but we're getting used to that too, and it
will definitely be going up, forecast to be up around -1C this afternoon.
That would be more of a concern to us if it was going to be sunny, just
because anything close to freezing with solar energy on top takes away
the crispness of snow surfaces, however, it's supposed to be overcast
as it is now, for the balance of the day. There is the possibility of Snow
from Mother Nature and the best chance of that happening is late afternoon
through this eve., and overnight.
The winds may be a comfort factor today as they could be moderate
to strong, starting South, then swinging around to Nor-West with gusty
periods. The passing front is what may bring more fresh snow, so we won't
complain if that actually happens.
Ski/Board/Snow Conditions are literally getting better every day.
We don't think we've ever seen this level of universal quality
across the array of Open terrain at this early date.
There can be natural hazards because we don't yet have the 6 foot deep
accumulated winter base yet, so as great as it is, you still need to
use common sense in initial exploration. Daily wear/traffic patterns
can create or change surface conditions, up or down, so please use
responsible caution where necessary, for safety's sake.

If you would like to look up dates you visited Tremblant, or you
want to research days/weeks/months to visit, you can sample what
they look like historically, month by month, year by year.

When reviewing dates from any of the past, numbered, archived pages,
you can use the "Previous Topic" or "Next Topic" buttons, located
screen far right, in upper date/message bar to scroll through sequential
dates, or use your browsers "back" button to stay on the selected index
page for non-sequential date reviews in either forward or reverse order.
There are approximately 6, 25 day Index pages per season.
(

First index page with the latest posts. That gives you an immediate,
current to 25 day past, review scroll of Winter Alpine Conditions by
consecutive date.)
