T360 Apres Ski Intro. at 10:45 P.M.

They Raised their heads towards the sky and cried out in unison...
"We beseech thee, O Mother Nature, Show us where the Fine Alpine
Snow Sport is in this recent tumultuous weather you have laid upon us..."
In Reply, Mother Nature shone down a beam of powerful light to guide
them, and in due course, they were taken to a place the Natives called...
Tremblant.

Well, it makes a good story for this most unusual sunlight display
at 4:05 P.M. as the day was winding down. The Saturday Weekend crowd
was back in the village curling up in front of warm fires and in the absence
of all but a very few witnesses, Mother Nature did indeed shine a ray of
very powerful light on Tremblant. Quite etherial ...
A very "Fast" day... Apres Ski posted below shortly...

As at this time there is no Preliminary Official Snow Report
for this date.

In Last Night's Apres Ski @ 10:45 P.M., we wrote:

One Possible Explanation...
We could be wrong(this is only one possible explanation, and therefore
subject to correction), but in our anecdotal observations, if the preliminary
report for tomorrow which is usually published just after lunch, does not
appear, it usually indicates a very high potential variation in transitional
conditions.
In other words, things are too unpredictable to forecast with certainty when
innumerable wild cards exist in the field.
In almost every similar case we can recall, the only time the preliminary
report is not put up, is when there are immense Mother Nature events,
as exist now, so committing a day in advance to a projected Open Trail
count, may just not be practical.
Typically, when this occurs under a generalized "Restoration" or Deep
Fresh Snow mode, the Open Trail count may go up from the previous day.
If it occurs after a Wet, Warm thermal, or Deep Freeze event, the Open Trail
Count may go down"

Naturally, and very typical of the human experience, you think of something
else to say 10 minutes after you've said the first thing....
In this case, that would be... It's the Weekend! and, that this is Friday, so
rather than go with a low, but safe Open Trail count based on the current
50 Open trails, the possibility exists that it has been decided to wait until
the the Field Team, i.e. Mountain Operations, can report in, bright and early
in the morning with the actual number of Verified, Recovered Trails they
have managed to re-open for Saturday.
The positive is that they likely expect the number to go a fair ways up
for the weekend which would be a very desirable attraction for those
potential customers who may be "Sitting on the fence" about whether
to make it out or not.
Basically, the bigger the Open Trail Count, the more people come out
on average. Well, that's logical in the sense that customers generally
appreciate the most variety they can get for the investment to attend.
In another sense, this is a big component of how Tremblant actually earns
the "Ski Magazine" "Best In The East" award for about 15 years straight....
Tremblant Mountain Crews deliver:
- Great Technical Skill Levels(Green,Blue,Black) Terrain,
- Big Acreages of Terrain,
- Very High Quality Surfaced Terrain,
....simultaneously.
No one is more motivated than Tremblant to have as many Trails open
as possible because the Terrain at Tremblant is the hallmark of participation
in the Winter Alpine Snow Sport Season here, i. e., Skiing, Snowboarding.
Repeat:

Just Guessing, but we think you might see 60-65 Open Trails???
We have to tell you though, that after the wild weather swings
we've seen here in the very recent past, we'd be quite happy if
the number stayed the same, but we got the usual overnight
refinements on them over yesterday.

....all this work done by Mountain Crews over the past couple of days
has to pay off at some point, so it makes sense that would be co-ordinated
with the extra attendance of the weekend.

The previously pictured BR350 Groomer/Packer on McCulloch
initially grinding up ice into manageable chunks with the Track Cleats.
In this case, the thickness and square area of the icy spot required
multiple back and forth cycles to get into the core and break it up.
Please note the small bowed over tree saplings in the background
near the orange boundary stake.
Shred This:
In this second one below the orange stake has been moved, but the
bent over saplings can clearly be seen in this 18 hour later "After" shot...

We can't imagine any more graphic evidence of what these very
professional Mountain Crews can do in such a short time, and
absolutely incredibly, over such huge square areas as they cover.
This is exactly why things get better every day at Tremblant
after a big "Thermal Event"!
